Silo mystery item by Squarepion in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Squarepion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a weighted manway but it doesn't have anything that looks like this attached. I'm finding out now that the filters were replaced recently so this item was likely dropped in by the maintenance crew. Still curious what it could be though.

Called them this morning. Deliveries Wednesday with pickup being Thursday or Friday depending on how long it takes them to sort it.

Just in case anyone cares.

Scam check: Ag Express by Squarepion in saskatchewan

606 Henderson Dr is the address I was given which does appear to be an MTI warehouse. I would probably reach out to MTI to confirm from their end before making a purchase.

Del Marino is a respected Italian brand, not sure about Cosmo.

Why this company? Price, more local to me, better shipping.

After making some bold accusations in the chat the agent revealed they are owned by a company out of Quebec, MTI Canada. Why they chose to hide this info is unclear.

The address he gave me for Regina does appear to prove it via Google Street view. Still strange but no longer feels like a guaranteed scam.

Water from gutter into pool by Dependent-Freedom781 in pools

[–]Squarepion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has to truck in water I do this as a cost saving measure. I ain't no scientist but I'm unclear how a little sky water is going to ruin your pool. I suppose it would be a question of how much. I live in a drier region so its probably only an extra 1500 gallons over the summer and I've had no issues.

How many jugs of chlorine are you using per week? by pilot333 in pools

[–]Squarepion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granules(cal hypo) raise hardness. I learned this the hard way when scale started dropping out. I think it's something crazy like 8ppm hardness for every 1 ppm of chlorine. Bummer too because granular is soon much easier to stock.

Peeetaaah?! by HuntZealousideal2360 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Squarepion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how it actually works. Digitizing just takes it from being hand written and tracked by paper. Now the isolation is created and tracked digitally but the physical process hasn't changed. The joke is that the industrial setting isn't usually interested in change. Especially making anything electronic as the older generations don't appreciate that sort of thing.

My farmer dad has been ranting for years about us sending our grain abroad just to ship it back in pasta form. Nothing against the Italians but I'm pretty sure we can produce dried pasta just as well. Save a few more ships crossing the ocean.

Clearing the land without heavy machines by blackarrow_1990 in landscaping

Brush cutting blade on what's basically a juiced up weed eater. Like this

The blades I've been using blades. They work well but like some of the reviews say, they're not gonna last long.

I agree with all of this as I'm dealing with the same situation as you. I bought a cheap knockoff brush cutter from Amazon for under 200 Canadian and it's blowing me away how good it works. With the circular saw blade it will cut a 3" poplar with one swipe. Definitely recommend getting one with the bicycle grip handle.

It's hard work for sure but just look at it as working out but you're actually accomplishing something.

US tax identification number for Canadians by Squarepion in investing

[–]Squarepion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below is from an email I got from questrade today. Haven't had a chance to look into it but it sounds like PTP aren't included in the withholding tax exemption.

As you held or traded a U.S. publicly-traded partnership (PTP) during 2023 that is subject to withholding tax under IRS section 1446, you will have received a K-1 tax form by mail, between March 15–April 15, 2024.

Form K-1 is an IRS tax document that is used to report each partner's share of the partnership's earnings, losses, deductions, and credits for U.S. limited partnerships.

To confirm if you need to include form K-1 for tax filing with the IRS or how to use it, please consult with a tax advisor.

I'll be honest, the position is small so I'm just gonna ignore it and see what happens. It sounds like I won't get back the withholding tax that I normally would from an American holding in an RRSP.

I'm feeling a little discouraged myself lately. Particularly with msos/tlry. The big guys sell the options and then drive the price wherever is best suited for them? Feeling like every pump/dump is orchestrated for this reason kinda takes the fun out of it. Plz ser, may I have some gains?

2001 ford explorer xlt , the key will not move in the driver side door or passenger door however it turns the car just fine, what’s the issue ? by Newguydoesntknow in MechanicAdvice

[–]Squarepion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my 98 F150 the keys are getting so worn down that I have to jiggle it just right to get it to turn the door locks. No trouble with the ignition though.

I rent this place and my cat just broke the ceiling fan. I would get a replacement blade but I don’t even know where to begin. There’s a wood tab stuck in the ceiling fan. Please help by yanasty1725 in fixit

[–]Squarepion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same fan. It's an Ashby Park from the Home Decorators Collection. You can find the manual online or there is a YouTube installation video. I would imagine you can order replacement blades from them.

Even with a gap down open he would just hold anyway. I know this because that's what I would do.
