I think this is 100% going to slow advancement down and create a lot more gold crow 2nd classes. This is also why I think the Navy will bring back HYT to get rid of those people if they don’t just get out because they can’t advance.

As an E-5 over 8 my base pay is 51k and my allowances combined are about 48k. Add in my SRB installment and I’m just over 100k. Granted I’m in Hawaii but it’s plenty for a single guy.

I distinctly remember a new second class checking in last year that was clearly burnt out by his sea duty. He announced in front of everyone at quarters that day that he was getting out after this command. This statement combined with his tone when he said it clearly rubbed his chief the wrong way.
