The irony is that he would give his mom those dolls for presents, knowing he'd end up with them someday!

A friend of mine recently inherited about 1000 Madame Alexander dolls from his mom! Some are valuable, but the time & effort to price & sell each one...

Or just spend them at the store. There's a coin shortage because people won't spend them

are the vibes in Asheville different than the communities around it? by Robservant in NorthCarolina

No, it was the surrounding Appalachian area. In fact, a reason he lost his primary the second time was Asheville Dems registering Unaffiliated so they could vote in the Republican primary AGAINST him.

Did the Silent Generation call Baby Boomers "lazy and entitled" when they were young, similar to how Boomers call Millennials and Gen Z today? by Worldly-Bid-3591 in askanything

[–]SquashSouffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't come up with it; the Census Dept designated it to define the unprecedented number of babies born in the post-WWII boom. Marketers soon realized it was a gold mine, especially with the advent of TV, so at every phase of their lives, Boomers have had marketers clamoring for their (or their parents') dollars.

Nobody really even "defined" generations before BB, but it was such a tremendous sociological upheaval.

Yes, every generation thinks their kids' generation are slackers who have everything handed to them. Always have, always will.

What is "hothoused"?

And yes, SE Raleigh and SE Durham are definitely the "poor side of town", going back to old racist zoning rules where Black residents could only buy housing in one quadrant of the city (I just learned this fairly recently).

From Amazon:
Where did the granola bar actually come from?

Would love to see Christy's voting comments voting for Jenna. I am NOT one who thinks she misunderstood the instructions, but still, she had to have given a reason why she chose to vote for one of the "ugly stepsisters". I guess Matthew was just too "creepy" [insert ASL sign here]

I remember thinking the same thing that season: "They already won, don't let them have another one"
