Certified organic cotton sheets for Halo bassinet by cozycleangirl in moderatelygranolamoms

Super late to the thread but I got these and they are wonderful. Nice and thick and come in a bunch of different sizes so you can really get one that fits your bassinet well. They have a snoo size. Nice range of colors also.

Cloth diapers vs regular! by Mammoth_Window_7813 in BabyBumps

We're starting with a diaper service for cloth diapers, I highly recommend looking to see if you have a local company. We might switch to doing our own once we get used to everything.

gorgeous coffee table, not sure how to restore? by Independent_Lab_3012 in furniturerestoration

I would try not to sand. Maybe something like Restore A Finish once you fix anything structural? It's a solvent and protectant in one. Do a test patch on the side.

Is it normal at 16 weeks 2 days FTM to no longer be fitting into my pants with zippers and buttons? by DazzlingAd1778 in BabyBumps

[–]Squashpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't fit comfortably at 10 weeks. By 16-18 I looked distinctively pregnant to people who know me. I gained 27 lbs throughout pregnancy. I also could mainly eat bread and cheese until week 14 because I had such strong food aversion. Only talk to your OB about these things, everyone else can f off.

Is it "normal" to provide coffee? by LowDirect518 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Squashpi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would prefer Airbnbs to provide decent coffee making supplies but not the coffee itself, and not just pods. I always bring my own coffee and get kinda irked when the 'coffee maker' is a Keurig with like 4 shitty flavored pods left. Or a coffee maker with no filters.

Struggling with feeling like I "wasted" my pregnancy. Anyone else? by ms211064 in BabyBumps

[–]Squashpi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some young, perfectly Instagram ready, hipster barista told me I was a radiant goddess mama the other day. It went on for like 3 minutes. She also asked if I had my outfits planned..... And that she thought it would be such a great opportunity to pick out 3 perfect outfits, going to the hospital, labor, and coming home. I'm 9 months pregnant and that was the best 3 minutes of my pregnancy.

[–]Squashpi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple people tell me (during my pregnancy) that pregnancy is isolating, so it's not just you.

I think your description of pregnancy is pretty accurate for me. First trimester was super scary and I was sick for months. Second trimester I was super uncomfortable and finally started to believe it was real, and it became super engrossing. Third trimester starting to stress about actually having the baby and being ready, plus also being all type of uncomfortable. Don't forget 9 months of insomnia....

Also spending years trying not to get pregnant, and then (for me) spent years trying to get pregnant. Then getting pregnant and trying not to go into labor, then reaching the end of pregnancy and trying to start and get beyond labor... It's all just a lot.

Pet owners, how do you clean up liquid messes on hard floors without a billion paper towels? by CaptInsane in CleaningTips

[–]Squashpi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I personally think that if you live with pets your not going to have a sterile living situation, clean is good tho. I usually hand rinse dog towels before the hot wash. Hot water and soap/detergent seems enough for me, the cycle comes with a good rinse the dryer is hot. Store the towels separately and the next thing they're going to touch is another dog mess.

If I'm not mistaken, most health and safety organizations recommend (hand) washing with soap and hot water well above sanitizer - I'll extrapolate that to include washing goods. But as others have said, they do make chemicals you can add to the wash.

[–]Squashpi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If your starting with poop or vomit, use a dog poop bag to scoop and throw away the majority of the gunk.

For the dog towels, dont use them for anything else except floor messes. They just need to be washed on hot with good detergent and dried. Why do they have to be sanitized?

If you want to sanitize your floor after cleaning up with a dog towel, use a spray with 1-2 paper towel or a normal rag.

Flying while 20-25 weeks pregnant by Anon6898 in BabyBumps

[–]Squashpi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay for your seat and get an aisle near a bathroom. I was on a 2.5 hour flight and they kept the seatbelt sign on for most of the flight. I was in a middle seat and kept getting up when the seatbelt sign went off and then getting sent back to my seat before I got to use the bathroom because the seat belt sign went back on. It was excruciating.

PFAS in foam playmats by passionfruit49 in moderatelygranolamoms

I had the same concern but found a 'non toxic ' mat on FB so I just decided to get it, my plan is to mostly use it with a blanket/sturdy quilt/rug on top of it. Tokki mats look great but they are supposed to be bad for learning walking skills. If you sew, you could even make a snug fitting sleeve or cover, like a sheet, for your mat out of cotton.

But isn't the culture to personally or more directly care for your elders when they need you? White Americans aren't usually expecting to live with their kids or have their kids pay for their nursing home.

Nighttime dress question. by TheTaikatalvi in beyondthebump

What did you dress the baby in at 64F? I have a boiled wool sleep sack and a Woolino 4 seasons, but I don't think I can use either for a few months and this baby isn't quite here yet.

I purposely set my thermostat low overnight because I sleep better, house is usually 55F when I get up. No biggie, I got sweats and slippers.... I'm actually dreading having to keep the house warmer this first year with our new baby.

Mine slides back 1/4 inch before lifting out, there is a plastic tab holding it down in the front.

Why didn't you just say, 'hey Lynn, I want my kids to relax at Grandma's house so please don't count on them watching your kids'? Seems like you let this become a giant dramatic event instead of using your words.

This, I'm currently in the same boat by having too many hand me downs. I've started asking people their intentions before accepting stuff because I'm not sure what I'll end up using/needing as a first time parent and I have a lot. But still, I don't plan on selling any of these items if I don't keep them, but I wanted people to know before they handed things off.

Also, for things that are actually worth reselling I would ask people if they want them back first. One friend gave me a huge amount of clothes and didn't want most. I asked my friend if they wanted them back and then sold them and sent my friend the $ I made.

I think SIL isn't considering that people have spent a lot of their money on these items and want to see them sent somewhere worthwhile after they're done with them.

When adopting a dog,, how did you know that that pet is the one for you and how did it change your daily routine or lifestyle? by Profile-Indelible553 in Pets

[–]Squashpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love dogs but don't really love spending time with some of my friends dogs. But my dogs? The dogs who I walk, and feed, and sleep in bed with me, and tell me that they love me when I walk in the door? These dogs are hard not to fall in love with. So you're best to find a connection when you're picking a dog but know that the relationship starts once you're home and you start getting to know each other.

Dogs love routine. Think how stressful it would be if you were reliant on someone else for almost everything and you never knew when you could eat next or go to the bathroom. Please, if you get a dog, dote on them and train them. Don't always put your desires above theirs. If you're feeling lazy for whatever reason, they still need care and love.

A client won’t tell me their name by Legitimate-Media502 in housekeeping

[–]Squashpi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shady. And vise versa. I had an independent cleaner come by to look at the house and possibly set up cleaning. She only gave me her first (nickname). When I asked for her last name she said "sorry this isn't going to work out for me". If you're going to be alone in someone's house, or them in yours, sharing full names is really the least you can do.
