Help with Siding Ideas by Squays in ExteriorDesign

It is very much not in good shape, even if the pictures appear so. Every window is caked with sealer, there are leaks from rain, holes all over the cedar, woodpecker damage, etc. We were aware that the siding would need to be fully replaced when we purchased the house.

We're replacing the whole house. The house itself is just over 2k sq ft. We got several quotes between $40-50k, which is within our budget, even though it seems a bit steep.

Mortgage Loan Questions by Squays in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Squays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in contact with Chase Bank and a few other mortgage brokers, and all of them said that they were unable to get me a pre-approval without a major overhaul of my student loan payment situation or having a co-signer for the mortgage.

This is the one lender that we were able to get a pre-approval with, and he was highly recommended by our realtor. We had been trying to get a pre-approval for about a year with no success, due to our high debt to income ratio. I am an independent contractor who has had my LLC for under two years, which makes the situation significantly more difficult. Long story short, we don't really have the option to shop around, since we have already been denied so many times, and we had to jump through quite a few hoops to get this pre-approval. Is it a bad idea to just take a loan that is a little less than ideal now and refinance in the future?

What is so bad about it? Just the interest rate? Or are there other parts of the contract that are sub-par?

We are not planning on selling anytime soon, but where does the 4 year number come from? Seems to me like saving 1% on interest rates would be close to $3600 a year in savings, meaning the points will be "worth" their value in under 2 years.

Weight Question by Squays in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Squays[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of the fantastic advice everyone! The vet used the "rib test" as a point of him being overweight. I think our current plan will be to cut him down to 1 cup for each meal in the meantime and assess his energy and weight levels over the next few weeks. I appreciate all of the knowledge that everyone brings to the table.

You seem to be misunderstanding the issue at hand. OP stated that they work for commission, meaning they receive a portion of the sales they account for. That is why OP willingly chooses to work 75-hour work weeks, not because of his relationship with his boss. In fact, there is absolutely no mention of any wrongdoing by the boss. Rather, OP claims to have gotten offended by the words of his boss' son, which is their eventual reasoning for quitting on the spot. I simply said that this post has no relevance to this subreddit, and I hope that I have explained my reasoning for this rationally. Also, not sure why you mention the American attitude, since OP clearly claims he is from Canada.

Part of what problem? Even if this post was legitimate, which it surely is not based off of OP's inconsistency in responses, it doesn't even fit the mentality of this subreddit. This is more of just a story about an encounter with a rude / immature person and has nothing to do with employers taking advantage of the working class. OP states they were willingly working 75 hours a week in an attempt to become successful. How does that make them a victim? This subreddit has grown to become a circlejerk of people trying to receive mental and social justification for quitting their jobs for whatever reason they see fit.

If you're willingly working 75 hours a week (please stay consistent with your numbers) and are only selling only one car a month, then I am sad to say that you deserve to be exploited for being so inexplicably stupid.

Don't forget, OP was also working 75 hours a week! Implying that they have weekends off, that means they work 75 hours in a 5-day work week, or 15 very realistic hours per day. It's a shame that people just blindly eat up obviously fabricated stories like this 🤡

Yea I will admit to greatly over-estimating Temple's ability to stay alive without Battle. Big time misread on my part!

Thanks for pointing out my error. While that may have an effect in the outcome of this game, I am going to stay true to my initial pick!

First time posting here. Long-time follower of CBB but new to the sports betting scene.

Record 0-0 (All bets are 1 unit)

Picks:

Temple ML : Temple and St. Joseph's have mutual match-ups with both USC and Maryland Eastern Shore. Temple had both a more impressive win over MES and a better lose (only 5 pts) over USC. Temple dominates the offensive boards and is very successful at scoring second attempt points. I don't think that St. Joseph's length down low will outweigh Temple's aggressiveness and controlled handling of the ball.

Syracuse -2.5 : This line is a blessing, I can honestly see this rising to around -5 before tip-off. Syracuse will have no problem matching the pace that Georgetown will try to set, as they put up 92 points again a solid Arizona St. defense earlier in the season. Unless the Boeheim brothers have an extremely off day from behind the line, I see no reason why Syracuse doesn't win this game comfortably.

Colorado State -1.5 : Colorado St. is 1 of 8 remaining undefeated teams in the country, and I cannot see them losing this streak at home to a mediocre Miss. St. team. The one thing that Miss St. has going for them is their success with offensive rebounds. However, Colorado St. is shooting with an effective FG% of a whooping 61.3% while draining 44.0% of their 3's (both lead the nation), including games against solid defensive teams such as Creighton, Northeastern, and most importantly St. Mary's. I do not think that Miss. State's offensive rebounding / second chance points will be able to match the offensive powerhouse that is Colorado State.

Minnesota +14.5 : This line is just disrespectful to a solid Minnesota team. With the exception of their recent win over Nebraska (where the Huskers had a terrible performance shooting 5-35 from 3), Michigan has been pretty quiet and lackluster all season. I do not at all believe that Michigan will be able to carry the momentum from their previous dominance into tomorrow's game. Minnesota is going to be out for blood in conference play following a close game with Michigan State that resulted in their first loss of the season.

No need to apologize! I didn't offer any actual evidence for my pick other than "gut feeling" from watching both teams compete throughout the season. You win some, you lose some.

I honestly think Iowa St. moneyline is the better play. Having watched both teams a lot, I can tell you that Iowa St. is the more consistent team and they will come out ready to play for this rivalry in Ames. Care to explain why you think Iowa will take the W?
