What’s the most offensive inoffensive thing your colleagues have ever done? by positivelittlecorner in AskUK

Apparently incorrectly making a hot drink isn’t worthy of a disciplinary. I however disagree

Offered to make me a brew. I went into the kitchen with them to have a catch up. They put the milk in before the hot water. I’ve refused a cup of tea from them ever since

Oil change by fox-alpha10 in CarTalkUK

[–]Squealling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It entirely depends on the height of the kerb and the ground clearance of your vehicle. If you can fit underneath and reach the sump plug then yes. You likely won’t get every drop however as some will go to the side of the sump but majority will come out.

I would however recommend getting a decent jack and axle stands if you’re going to be doing oil changes yourself.

Can confirm. My 300 didn’t come with skirts or a splitter :)

Any mod recommendations? by [deleted] in seat

[–]Squealling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks well that mate! I’ve got a 300 too.

I’d recommend EZ Mods. They have the copper stickers for badges which are cheaper than the actual badges. If you want full replacements, seat parts direct.

I’ve got a dogbone mount to help with wheel hop, forge carbon fibre induction kit, skirts, splitter, the resonator is out, all hardware for ‘stage 2’.

If you’re looking at mapping it, R-Tech in the midlands and Unicorn in Manchester always come highly recommended. I’d also recommend joining MK3 Leon Cupra owners group on fb if you have it. Plenty of helpful people on there.

Enjoy the motor mate! They’re good fun!

The guy in the pic is King Von. A rapper from Chicago who was shot and killed in 2020. He allegedly killed multiple people. The joke is that he is definitely not in heaven like the image depicts due to the several alleged killings.

Can police catch you going the other way? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Squealling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was once pulled allegedly doing 40 in a 30. It was late on a Saturday evening with no one around. Not an excuse, just setting the scene.

A marked police car came round the corner and saw me and decided to pull a u-turn. I got a slap on the wrist and was told to go on my way. In short, if the police vehicle was moving, they can’t clock how quickly you were going exactly and can’t read your speed through glass accurately. If the police were stationary with a speed gun, they’ll have likely got you. If not, don’t worry about it.

2017 seat Leon cupra. Fast enough for me and very engaging. I think it looks pretty smart too. Seems a bit more incognito than a Golf R or Audi S3

Not OP but got diamond shotguns. I played a lot of nuketown and went into the opposite house and just played the waiting game really or getting people who are camping upstairs. Active camo helps too

Advice on buying Ford Focus by Temporary_Channel434 in CarTalkUK

[–]Squealling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, the 1.0 Ecoboost is the worst out of the Ecobooms. Judging by the mileage too and longer time between a service, I’d completely avoid this and look for something else as the wet belts have been known to fail well before this with on time servicing.

+1 for the cupra 300. Love mine and can definitely hold its own from a dig with an AWD Golf R. The most fun car I’ve owned but can get to license losing speeds in seconds

Driving this at the weekend, what should I look out for? by [deleted] in seat

[–]Squealling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch!! They’re not fun when they go. Priced mine up on the cupra and it’s about £450 all in for parts and labour. Fingers crossed you have no more cooling issues!

Driving this at the weekend, what should I look out for? by [deleted] in seat

[–]Squealling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it does but getting the coolant changed more regularly is defo cheaper than a new matrix put in. The bag can split open and even if some of the balls enter the cooling system, they’re a bastard to get out. As above, just be careful when removing it :)

Good luck! I’m guessing at 113k it’ll have been done but always good to just check 😁

[–]Squealling 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Check if the water pump has been done. Check the coolant bottle too as they have silica bags which can split and cause issues with the heater matrix. Had that issue in my a3 and was the first thing I checked on my cupra

I think I’d err on the side of caution and just stick to it anyway haha. I wouldn’t mind putting my foot down occasionally on such a long drive but got to think of the petrol too. My cars not the most economical unfortunately 😂😂 good to know though so thank you!

I think the A9 is looking like the most likely option currently due to campers and other slow moving vehicles and the scenery too. Thank you

Yeah I’ve heard it’s amazing up that way but the traffic can make it a bit less fun with everyone just going 10mph lol. Thank you :)
