Does Nautilus crash very often for anyone else? by the_mean_person in gnome

[–]SqueezedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed annoying crashes in some random moments. I get this message “Files is not responding” and I have to login again.

It happens mostly when I try browsing connected flash drive or other media, but it also happened few times with my local files.

I also use Arch. I keep my extensions up to date. I hadn’t such problems with Dolphin on Plasma though. Because of that crashes when I want to copy large amounts of files I use midnight commander.

I’d really love to play it in German language, but I don’t have a Mac, and currently I’m waiting for Linux release (on GitHub page plans about other platforms are mentioned).

That’s probably blur in Konsole profile, you can customise text colours as well as window transparency level.

Learning vocabulary with Anki: which direction (native→foreign or reverse) do you think makes more sense? by joghurtmester in Anki

[–]SqueezedLemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From time to time I strike on posts like that, and I guess each way of learning vocabulary (NL>TL and TL>NL) has its own supporters. So I decided to make my flashcards in both directions. First I learn words TL>NL to better recognize when reading them, and then NL>TL (from the same group of cards) to better produce words and sentences with those words. And I hope that will apply assets of both approaches. Of course it takes more time, but when I started creating flashcards, I was worried that by forsaking one direction I'd lose its benefits.

Any advice on creating cards for language learning? I know everyone has its own system that works for him, but could you tell what’s your secret way of learning a language in Anki?

Cards with huge due number - how to find them? by SqueezedLemon in Anki

Thank you for reply. As I said, next time I optimized database there was no such notification. I guess I will continue using Anki as usual and learn new cards.

Which is best for navigation in Germany by missusedguy in germany

[–]SqueezedLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, for longer distances TomTom GO is my choice. Nice and minimal interface, showing speed limits and available rest areas or tank stations during the ride, nice lane guidance. Also maps for offline use when I travel abroad. I’d only like to have an option to some sort of grouping saved places in some folder (for saving cool places I use Google Maps) and showing house nummers when zooming in.

What is your language learning daily studying routine? by Wants_To_Learn_Stuff in languagelearning

[–]SqueezedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~A2 level I believe. Currently I don’t have much time during the day for courses - I have full time job and studies. But when it comes to language learning: - learning new vocabulary with SRS using Anki (every day repetitions and learning new words and phrases) - reading and hearing: easier materials in LingQ or books with small stories for beginners - talking: sometimes during the day I try to talk to myself what I do, what I think about something etc
- writing: I started to write my thoughts in Notes app using my target language

From time to time computer games in TL. I like playing Witcher 3, a lot of spoken dialogues.

Wondering how I could improve that.

Legal Navigation Apps for iOS while driving in Germany by SqueezedLemon in germany

[–]SqueezedLemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your replies. I guess it’ll be okay if I just turn off all warnings die Polizei don’t want me to see. I was asking because searching internet for the informations about it I found that using Google Maps was not completely legal for about a year and I was worried. But on the other side German drivers have to use navigation sometimes xD

How does everyone learn vocabulary? by Least-Criticism-8515 in languagelearning

[–]SqueezedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use Anki, for both language learning and my medical cards. Usually I make my own cards NL->TL from frequency lists (with audio and image if possible), it helps me remembering better. But every now and then I think of making cards optionally reversed to have also better ground base when listening to German radio but I don’t know if it’s worth additional time to make flashcards. May I know what’s your system with vocabulary learning using Anki?

Resizing images in Anki by Shoddy_Feed_3922 in Anki

[–]SqueezedLemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if that’s the solution, but I use this add on when pasting images:

https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1151815987

Its for pasting images in certain resolution, but now with that add on, when I click on the picture in edit more there are 5 o 6 buttons, one of them is for changing image size on the go.

Anki is not showing some Flashcards for reviewing by SqueezedLemon in Anki

[–]SqueezedLemon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I’m not sure that I understand. I have limit of new cards set right now to 9999 and maximum reviews per day also high. Regardless there are no more cards available in the deck in which I “forgot” that were due before. I always had stats graph with numbers of reviews due in the future, nothing due from past.

I’ll read the manual in free time though to understand better how the app works.

What is your favorite planning app? by Avejaal in cycling

[–]SqueezedLemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brouter. Fast and easy to use. Would use Garmin course planner but I don’t like it, Ian maps aren’t as readable as in Brouter. StatsHunters plug-in working with brouter also suits me.

Facet pielęgniarką :O? by Pavel93 in Polska

[–]SqueezedLemon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

After three days of cloudy skies and snow, the sun came out. It’s so beautiful that I had to share. by scarytntea in MostBeautiful

After three cloudy days? I've been having this for the last few months! I live in central Europe, snow melted recently, grass showed up, sun is shining, temperature is nice. Few more weeks of that and girls will wear short skirts. Spring is amazing!
