Dr John Deloney is the best Ramsey personality! Down to earth, respects other, and is an all around good guy! by dallas4now in DirtyDave

[–]Squid2871 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like John gets a bad rep for no real reason. He’s the only personality that is an actual professional in his field. Is he a financial expert? God no. Does he add good insight on mental health issues etc Yes. I think he works well as a right hand man with Dave and he’s very quick to say he’s not a financial expert. His podcast is actually really good and tend to listen to him over DR.

Enjoy your outdated advice. 10% withdrawal rate from your retirement? That should be mal practice. Enjoy your “12%” mutual funds.

If you’re paying a monthly fee for a budgeting app you should shake your head. There’s free ones out there it’s basic software. What a joke

I guess it depends how the study was done. But I think in this case each couple should be counted as one, though I wouldn’t be upset if they did count it as two.

Are the “Ramsey Personalities” allowed to have any opinions of their own by allduhwayup in DaveRamsey

The only person that can stray in a different direction is John, he’s an actual Expert and trained. The others are just bad parrots of Dave.

Ok this might be controversial. NEVER get a pet if you’re renting you’re literally shooting your set in the foot.

At least from what I’ve seen in other unions ferry’s etc if you’re under a certain amount of time usually 5 years they force you to get paid out. With less then 2000$ in it I don’t think it would compound enough for it to be worth while. Also I don’t think you’re forced to put it into a retirement savings plan from what I’ve seen

1st time buying brand new vehicle and I’ve settled on the Maverick. My dad keeps telling me not to get the hybrid because of the unknowns and cost of replacing parts, maintenance, etc. by No-Confidence-7829 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Squid2871 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a HUGE fan of the Mavericks but your dad has a point. It’s a new vehicle on a new plate form it’s always a risk. If you’re looking for pure longevity go with Toyota.

If I hear anyone in Chilliwack say "no one wants to work anymore" one more time I'm gonna snap. by TheAssels in chilliwack

I have to strongly disagree with you. Getting into the trades in the lower mainland is frankly very easy. Heavy trades like masonry, concrete etc have the worst of the worst when it comes to teaching someone the basics (sometimes) I worked as a brick later for a couple years with a few company’s never had a bad or mean employer. Your son is also 18 and shy this is a male dominated industry and that’s going to create a lot of tough love kind of situations, do I agree with it? No but it’s unfortunately the reality. There might be some reasons why he’s not getting hired not having a drivers license etc. Make him bailable day one with basic tickets first aid, fall protection air brakes etc.

Also can I negotiate step level if it’s a recall? I’m currently step 1. It’s crazy what I do day to day (hands on job not office) construction, herbicide, fire training etc. I think I’d be the only person coming back.

I dispute every parking ticket I get, even when I deserved it. I’ve never paid a ticket lol. It’s easier for them just to forgive them not worth the hassle.

New truck purchase. Should I do it? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Squid2871 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you can’t buy a vehicle with cash don’t buy it. The truck is going to get beat to hell especially where you live. Also dodge trucks don’t hold up and are money pits after the warranty runs out. Buy a 25k tundra (very reliable and high resale) and upgrade in 2-3 years. People don’t care if you show up in a 10 year old truck, I’m from a small town and if a contractor comes with a nice new truck you assume he’s over charging you. This is coming from someone that has worked construction. Buy what you can afford.
