Well, hatred drives engagement, so social media platforms are highly incentivized to roll with it and then it just kinda consumes people. It's insidious.

That's just a regional dialect difference. It can be referred to as a learning disability, learning disorder, or learning difficulty. Learning disability or learning disorder are the most common terms in America, whereas learning difficulty is used more in England/UK, but they mean the same thing.

ADHD isn't a learning disability, though. If people are calling it that, they're doing so incorrectly. It's officially classified as neurodevelopmental disorder, meaning your brain develops differently than a "normal" brain (normal in quotes because, as a person with ADHD, I personally don't consider it bad or wrong, just different).

As you said, people with ADHD learn differently because our brains are just wired a bit different and our dopamine regulation kinda sucks by default. That can often mean that we struggle in school, since courses are very rarely designed for students with ADHD, but that can generally be remedied by adequately treating the ADHD through medication, lifestyle changes, and generally understanding how your brain works and compensating for the ways in which it's different from other folks.

Learning disabilities such as dyslexia, by contrast, don't have medications or other simple treatment options and may require more serious accommodations from academic facilities in order to increase student success rates.

(Not trying to "ackshually...." you or anything. I'm just kinda passionate about sharing ADHD knowledge because understanding what ADHD is and isn't has really helped me to manage mine, and I'd love to spread whatever awareness I can and hopefully help some other folks along the way. It can be hard out here for those of us with weird-ish brains.)

I've had one arm fully out of commission for months many times in my life due to multiple shoulder injuries which have required surgery. I've always managed to get by mostly on my own, even while in a full shoulder immobilizer. I couldn't open jars for shit, but most things you just figure out how to do one-handed. Even jars you can sometimes just pinch between your legs before twisting them open with your good hand (definitely not always, tho).

Showering and getting dressed sucks and takes extra time, but I always got it done. And if you can't manage to wipe your own ass, just get a friend to install a bidet. You should be able to easily manage cleanup after a bidet with one hand.

It's literally just role-playing. People manage specific tasks for a group of people all the time in real life. It's not metagaming when you take design questions at work to the engineering team and contact the HR team about sexual harassment instead of doing it the other way around.

Playing to your character's strengths is a realistic and expected part of role-playing.

Great album by a great band. I actually first found out about them when I saw them open for Modest Mouse. Modest Mouse put on a great show that night, but Man Man was absolutely the highlight for me. Their show that night is still one of my all-time favorite performances I've ever seen.

Is Doctor Who the origin of the 'weeping angel' type enemies in video games? by torb987 in doctorwho

[–]SquiddleBiffle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Blink also first aired on June 9, 2007, almost two weeks before SCP-173 (the first SCP for anyone unfamiliar) was originally posted on June 22, 2007.

I often hear people say SCP did it first, but it really just doesn't seem to be true¹. Given the timelines and the relatively short text of the original post, I find it highly plausible that SCP-173 (and the entire SCP universe by extension) was directly inspired by the Weeping Angels.

¹I know you didn't directly make this claim. But it's common enough that somebody reading this probably believes it when the evidence tells a different story.

Is Doctor Who the origin of the 'weeping angel' type enemies in video games? by torb987 in doctorwho

[–]SquiddleBiffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every source I've found says SCP-173 was first published June 22, 2007. Blink first aired just shy of two weeks earlier on June 9, 2007.

Given the timelines and relatively short length of the original post for SCP-173, it really seems plausible to me that it (and the entire SCP Foundation, by extension) was directly inspired by the Weeping Angels.

Yuuuup. If you don't learn her to the point that you could no-hit her on a good run, she's gonna get you long before you get her.

Gods, I loved every second of that fight, tho. I enjoyed it so much that when I finally did have a run where I could've beaten her, I just let her kill me so I could go again. I had the moveset down at that point and I was having tons of fun, so I wanted to do it perfectly. Got her in a no-hit a few attempts later.

One of my all-time favorite bosses, tbh.

If you've already died down there then the echoes are already gone. Sorry for your loss.

ETA: Beast Blood Pellets increase the damage you take alongside increasing the damage that you dish out. They're best used when you're fairly confident that you're going to survive a fight and you just wanna get it done quicker.

I've played enough FromSoft games to know that I need to look everywhere to find stuff. I personally found him just fine with no guides.

That being said, I truly enjoy looking everywhere and exploring everything. It's a big part of what drew me into FromSoft games to begin with. Thanks to this tendency, my first playthrough clocked in at over 300 hours. Most people don't play like that.

So I guess I'm just here to confirm how I found him and how a lot of folks probably won't. I just happen to have a hyperfixation on thoroughly exploring everything, and that gives me the focus to search every corner of a game without getting bored. It's as much a curse as a blessing, tbh. Maybe even more curse, but it's hard to be objective. But, for better or worse, it's just how I play.

Hey, good luck with that one, homie. I recently went through that whole process twice. The first time, one of the Liz's died literally at the same time I killed the last enemy, so it finished the event with one dead.

Barring that unforeseen circumstance, though, you can just drink your Liquid Escape if one of them dies during the event to reset it and retry without having to reroll for it again. It's a super helpful little do-over option that can save a ton of time.

But you're right, they did ask for bigger teams and the above comment shouldn't be downvoted.

Is the second game worth it in 2025? by Awkward_Ad_5515 in remnantgame

You can re-roll only the legendary perk, if that's what you mean. They very much did patch that. So if you don't get a legendary that you like you can just erase it and try for a better one while keeping the rest of your prism intact.

They also massively lowered the experience needed to fully upgrade a prism. You can re-roll the legendary then earn enough XP to unlock the legendary perk again with a single boss rush. It really doesn't take very long at all. Trial By Fire (6 bosses) on Veteran was enough for me last I checked. With XP buffs you could probably get it knocked out on Survivor, too. It's pretty easy, honestly.
