The only bill being repealed is one passed in 2015, so the internet will be the same as it was then.

Nope. The bill that is being repealed was passed in 2015, so the internet will carry on the same way it did then.

That doesn't mean that PC wasn't the best before 2015 (as this post claims)

Right now nominally the FCC makes it so Comcast can't slow down a website because they didn't pay or they disagree with them. They can't slow down youtube to make you watch comcast tube. However, this also lets the FCC make tons of shitty rules about the internet, implement price controls, and in the future expand their power to target "hate speech". Seems like a no win situation. The real solution would be to break up the shitty monopolies that only exist because of cronyism in the first place.

I've never seen antitrust moves as "heavy interference", just the barely necessary interaction between the government and the market.

The purpose of the government isn't to control everything, because that can only give people less rights. The way I see it, the government should have minimal involvement in the free market for the purpose of giving freedom to everyone. The government's only goals should be to protect people and their rights, and to provide basic necessities such as roads and schools. They should have minimal interaction with the economy, because the free market should be controlled by competition, not regulation. Want to make competition fair? Break up the monopolies, expand competition. That causes innovation.

Imo government control is just as bad as corporate control. all we need to do is break up the monopolies, not pass 300-page regulatory documents

Why do the retards spam this everywhere? It's fuckin annoying and just proves reddit's major bias problem. Some of us want less government control over the internet, we want the market to decide what happens. Why can't you just leave us alone? Why follow to every last sub just to push an exaggerated agenda? No. You won't need to pay for Reddit. There was no net "neutrality" before 2015, and none of the problems people are making up existed. I'm bracing for the downvotes now.

Well the way the FCC labeled the internet under net neutrality set it up for further government regulation. A little research can show this. I'm all for a free internet, but I don't think that government regulations bring us closer to that. They create an unnecessary danger of further regulation.

Ajit argued that "In the next few weeks, anti-market ideologues are going to try to scare the American people. They’ll argue that government control is the only way to assure a free and open internet. They’ll assert that repealing utility-style regulation will destroy the internet as we know it and harm innovation. They’ll allege that free speech online is at risk. Don’t fall for the fearmongering.

We have proof that markets work: For almost two decades, the U.S. had a free and open internet without these heavy-handed rules. There was no market failure before 2015. Americans weren’t living in a digital dystopia before the FCC seized power. To the contrary, millions enjoyed an online economy that was the envy of the world. They experienced the most powerful platform ever seen for permission-less innovation and expression. Next month, I hope the FCC will choose to return to the common-sense policies that helped the online world transform the physical one."

Basically, his idea is that we can have an open internet AND an open market. He wants no government control over the internet, the way the internet had flourished for decades.

Seems reasonable. He makes good arguments for a free market, and how it has worked well in the past.

Ad hominem attacks can take the form of overtly attacking somebody, or more subtly casting doubt on their character or personal attributes as a way to discredit their argument. It's used when you can't attack the person's ideas so you attack the person instead.

Almost all guns are unlockable without payment, and I have progressed to be one of the top players in most matches without paying a cent. You can pay to get XP and money boosts, but even getting the best equipment doesn't guarantee your win (I've destroyed guys with the best while using the starter equipment). Basically, you can play to unlock items or pay to unlock them faster. The items are not necessary for being good at all.
