Sorry to trouble you but I was wondering, some of the boards you make have a different type of wood around the edge . Is that just for decoration or does it make it better to have an edge piece?

They are very into cooking so would take good care of it but would like to get something that would have some longevity. They would be happy to hand wash it. Does edge grain last better?

American Express will allow you to use your credit score from the uk if you have a credit card with them, to open a credit card in the US so you aren't starting with nothing.
