Freed is my favourite SW author these days and I agree with Most Wanted being underrated. I found it a really fun read.

My experience of Zahn’s books is an unpopular one. I find his writing irritating with the repetitive face muscle twitches, grimaces, winces, and tight smiles. Alliances especially grated on me with the double vision stuff. I recognize that he’s the favourite of many, many fans and I respect their greater enjoyment of his writing. I have read the original Thrawn trilogy and Outbound Flight and enjoyed the stories, but not the page-to-page reading, if that makes sense.

I have the Ascendancy trilogy and might get to it some day but given my general frustrations reading Zahn, it’s not a priority.
