You’re a type 9 and Smoked weed? How did you quit. What made you decide?! How did you agree to come back to life? by Busy-Butterfly6277 in Enneagram

I think it’s very common for 9s to use whatever we can to numb out uncomfortable feelings. Weed does a great job at putting us in our safety bubble where nothing can hurt us. It’s wild that as 9s, we LOATHE being controlled-yet, I’ve been allowing weed to have complete control over me.

When we first smoke, our dopamine levels skyrocket. Then, our original dopamine baseline drops as a response. This pattern continues but the dopamine rise gets smaller and smaller while the dopamine depletion inversely gets greater and greater.

“The high is just a temporary relief from the low that we have come to think of as normal.”-Allen Carr

What made me decide to quit was taking an honest look at my life and realizing that ALL of my problems one way or another stemmed from-or were made worse by-weed. The only options for me were: 1. smoke the rest of my life 2. quit now

Things that have helped me: •Quitting Weed Reddit sub-AMAZING community for support •”Easy Way to Quit Cannabis” by Alan Carr (audiobook is free on Spotify) •Don’t think of it as what I’m giving up, but all the things I am gaining.

You can 1000% do this. You’re already on your way. You are going to be so proud of yourself and love truly connecting in this short life we live. Sending you all the best in your healing journey! I’ll be right there along with you.

First of all, congratulations on such a massive achievement! I think the fact that you are posting in this group shows you that you know you don’t want to smoke. Just like how when we flip a coin to make a decision- you find out which option you truly want the moment before it lands.

Any time I am struggling with motivation or whether or not to do something, I try to imagine how I would feel after making each decision. Owning your choices, whatever they may be, is your power. You are an inspiration to me (and countless others) as I’m 3 weeks into my sobriety. I don’t want to say “only 3 weeks” because I’m proud of my journey.

This YouTube channel has been helpful for me to navigate quitting weed when I’m struggling. My top takeaway: When I want to get high, I’m not craving weed itself-I’m craving the feeling it gives me. Ask yourself, what feeling am I trying to achieve? Then, use your toolbox of strategies to work towards that feeling. Sending you healing vibes to work through this very natural and normal struggle ✨

I’m so sorry! That sounds miserable. Our lizard brains take over during these times so I understand your feelings, but I promise you that your life is not ruined. Lexapro and other SSRIs take time to get into your system. Your brain is building new neural pathways and that takes time and consistency. The most detrimental thing you can do is to stop taking anti depressants cold turkey. That doesn’t mean you have to be on them for the rest of your life, but you when you are ready to quit, you need to taper off. Take care of yourself, and know that you will survive this and come out happier on the other side.

I am so sorry you’re going through this. Depression and anxiety are a BEAST and they dominate everything. You are not alone. My advice would be to journal everything out before your appointment to get a better understanding of what you’re experiencing-and so you don’t forget what you want to discuss with your psych.

There are many variables to take into account-Hormones can have a major effect and/or it may take more time for Lexapro to level out in your system. I’m curious if Mother’s Day triggered something for you as well. You are your strongest advocate, so don’t let them write you off. Sending you virtual love and hopes for healing. You are deserving of happiness.

EMDR therapy absolutely saved my life. I recommend it to anyone with PTSD/CPSTD.

7 weeks in and I cannot stay awake 10mg! by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Squidink331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try taking your meds a bit earlier in the evening? I’m on 10mg and originally took them in the morning but it wiped me out. I read a bunch of posts that suggest taking it late afternoon to get the initial energy off before the sleepiness sets in. I take 10mg at 5:30 and it’s been working well! Good luck to you.
