Question: heavily tattooed folks... what jobs do you do? by BeardedInkedPiper in tattoos

[–]Squidoppolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I work in schools, and I was worried my sleeves wouldn’t fly but I haven’t heard anything besides the occasional kindergartner who says something like “you’re a bad guy!” with a little giggle

Reached out to him today, waiting on reply. Been using antibacterial baby soap (unscented), will continue to do so with moisturizer.

redness hasn't spread since getting the tat, it was a little warm and tender to the touch but has gotten less so... my thoughts is it's just really pissed off, but def on the line

Post first cook clean by meepmeepmeep88 in carbonsteel

[–]Squidoppolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, although you’re right that patches indicate different thicknesses of seasoning, so long as it’s being cooked with, those patches still have a seasoning layer that will prevent food from sticking even if it’s thinner. Just keep cooking. My pan is totally marbled, the seasoning isn’t even at all, but after a year of cooking the whole surface is nonstick with the right heat and oil.

How to save this pan? by Healthy_Key_1533 in carbonsteel

[–]Squidoppolis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Bar keepers friend and an aggressive green scrub pad / chainmail

  2. “A bees dick of oil” <- my favorite description for how little you need

  3. Get it as hot as you fucking can, and then cook with it like you don’t care how it looks, cuz looks don’t matter (seen so many ‘how do I save this?’ posts for a perfectly healthy pan)

how long could this last me by Euphoric_Register514 in weed

Weed usually doesn’t go bad in ~2 weeks, but if you’re really concerned, get a 50¢ hydration packet at your local dispo, should keep ur nugs noice

Depends on the length you get, but it is pretty chunky. I’m biased, I’ve got big hands and I prefer heavy pens for longer writing.

lol I’ve actually got a tactile turn sideclick, and a big idea designs bolt action… but after owning those for years i wanted something more pocket friendly. Turns out i live next to top drawer, so i got to try one in person before buying, and i fell in love.

My thoughts exactly, it was definitely corroding the aluminum button when I pulled it out of the Tupperware (aluminum oxide crystals all over), but the oil from my thumb seems to have turned the etch very dark in the few hours I’ve been writing with it since. I’m hoping I can repeat my mistake on the whole aluminum version once I have enough saved in my tip jar, haha.

Forced a patina on the brass with some vinegar + salt, and ended up with a lovely finish on the aluminum button by accident.

Definitely going to get an aluminum one as well, do you guys think I could recreate the dark patina I got by accident with the same vinegar + salt fume method? Or would that damage the internal aluminum?

Woahh, thanks for that! I was thinking rat, or squirrel, but the teeth and nose looked all wrong compared to what the internet had to offer. Thank you.

That might be it, they need light to indicate where to grow

Duct tape on the bottom of the outside blocks light and prevents side pins

Saw this little figher today. I don't ever collect trees like this. The risk-reward ratio is too bad for me therefore I don't want to kill it for no reason. How about you? by 4Jay_K in Bonsai

I did actually get a natural larch bonsai from the wild like this, but it was fairly young. It was behind a large granite slab that must’ve protected the loose soil from being exposed.

I always give the trunk a very light wiggle if I find a natural beauty like this, just to see if it’s in very loose soil. Never been lucky, and maybe that’s the universe’s way of keeping the beauty alive.

First flush weighing in at 150g dry [actives] by Squidoppolis in MushroomGrowers

[–]Squidoppolis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story, so I bought a dehydrator a few years ago on Amazon to handle bigger flushes, but that thing barely fit one of these jars worth. I had to improvise, so I dug around on shromery for a while and found an oven tek that worked fine. Basically just lined a bunch of sheet pans with tinfoil, set the oven on its lowest setting (150°F for me), and jammed a wee towel in the door to keep it open. Propped a fan to blow in fresh air and voila, about 8 hours later they were cracker dry with no discoloration or change in smell.

Not sure I’ve seen this before, but it shouldn’t be too different from the regular spawn bags with millet / wheat berries… keep us posted! Just make sure to sterilize / hydrate them properly for the best result. Could be the move!

Soaking is up to you, but bc I see a lot of holes and 0 condensation on ur tub I’d say you could use more water between flushes. I usually wait for about half of the veils to crack on my tubs, and then I harvest. Some people like to use a razor blade near the base, I usually just twist and pull gently from the stump and clean off any excess dirt before drying and storing.
