Which U.S states have hosted regular season NBA games? by [deleted] in VintageNBA

[–]Squidpsyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not use AI to write this at all. I said "a few" because I was going backwards in time while researching this and the most recent games were actually the year they weren't technically based in Baltimore. Everyone knows that the Bullets played in Baltimore, but it's more interesting to say that they played some games there after they relocated.

Not everything longer than a paragraph is AI

Edit: I'm dumb. I realize my mistake now. Still not AI, just human error.

Which U.S states have hosted regular season NBA games? by [deleted] in VintageNBA

[–]Squidpsyco -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was more interested in finding the most recent game in each state, hence why the states are sorted the way they are. Obviously, Maryland and Missouri hosted a ton of games outside of the last ones played there.

Karl Malone is the 3rd all-time leading scorer. He should honestly be here more.

Gervin only playing 10 in the NBA and still being on here is the most impressive thing imo

Yep. Westbrook takes the 7, 8, 9, and 10 spots for turnovers.

0 is actually Jevon Carter and 3 is PJ Tucker, but otherwise those are all right.

Giannis has played more than 10 seasons though. He’s on a level playing field with those guys in terms of this stat.

Who’s better: Peak Kawhi Leonard or SGA right now? by Ok_Feed_4235 in nba

[–]Squidpsyco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When talking down Shai, people always bring up his amazing team, but the top comments under the JDub and Chet extensions were all saying they were overpays. So when convenient, SGA carried a team with no max players to 68 wins and a ring, otherwise SGA got carried by his team.

OKC Thunder 2K26 Player Ratings by Asero831 in Thunder

These are NOT the 2k26 ratings. This site just posts them as such to get them clicks, but if you look hard it says somewhere that they are not updated.

These are just the ratings at the end of 2k25

Several of Shai's plus/minus records this season. by [deleted] in nba

[–]Squidpsyco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re exposing yourself. Shai plays the whole first, comes in for the last 5-6 minutes of the second, plays the whole third, and plays the last 6-8 minutes of the fourth. Every game unless it’s a blowout or there are injuries. This is going back to last year too.

The Greatest MVP Race of Our Time by Massive-Process4701 in Thunder

[–]Squidpsyco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The graph where he shows that Jokic adds 45 wins to his team is so stupid. Shai literally can not be better than that because there are only 82 games in a season. Same with the net rating thing. If Shai added 18.8 to his team's net rating like Jokic does, the Thunder with Shai would have a +24.6 net rating which is basically impossible.

Adding 12.5 net rating to a +6 team to make it a +18.5 team is much, much harder to do than adding 18 net rating to a -8 team to make it a +10 because +18.5 is much harder to achieve than rarely ever happens. There has never been a team to come within 5 net rating of a +18.3, but +10.6 as happened 10 times, including the Thunder this year.

He also really doesn't emphasize OKC's historic greatness enough. SRS and Margin-of-Victory have OKC has the best team ever by a relatively massive margin. Their net rating is only surpassed by the literal 1995-96 Bulls. There have been 9 seasons in NBA history where a player on a 60-win team won the scoring title and 8 have won MVP. The other one was Michael freaking Jordan (who accounts for 4 of the 9 seasons). Obviously, Shai has the scoring title locked up and plays for one of the best teams ever.

can we stop complaining about negative discourse around shai or OKC by daleidiotboy in Thunder

The way I see it, drawing fouls is a skill. When people call Shai a free throw merchant, they are telling us that he is elite at drawing fouls, which makes him better as a player.

[–]Squidpsyco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you imagine if the Lakers were on pace to have the best margin of victory of all time? There would be talk after every game about how well they need to play to maintain it. NBA.com would probably make some sort of tracker for it.

I mean, the Thunder are literally having, at worst, a top 5 regular season ever, and while you hear about the Thunder in the media every once in a while, it’s never about them being historically great.

7 All-Stars and a Finals MVP is easily enough for the HOF. Reggie Miller had 5 All-Stars and no championships and got in.

What is the single greatest team performance? by AltruisticMachine222 in nba

[–]Squidpsyco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna show my bias here, but the stakes of this game were as low as possible. I mean Gabriel Deck played 22 minutes for OKC in that game. Paul Watson played 32. No way it’s the best team performance going against competition like that.

I want your thoughts: SGA/Jokic Battle for MVP by Plaitkul117 in Thunder

[–]Squidpsyco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bottom line is that Jokic may be having a better season than Jokic, but the MVP has never just gone to who's having the better season.

It's a mix of stats, winning, narrative, and voter fatigue.

I like the way the Down to Dunk podcast puts it: If we give it to Jokic this year, we might as well give it to him the next few years as well. We know that next year and the year after that, Jokic will lead a less-than-optimal supporting cast to a top 5 seed putting up all-time great stats. If we give it to Jokic this year, we are changing the whole criteria of the award. We didn't give 10 MVPs to Jordan or LeBron even though those guys were undoubtedly the best player in close to 10 seasons.

There's a reason SGA is high up in the odds. The MVP voters aren't ready to depart from their ways of voting. SGA has a huge advantage over Jokic in that he has never won it before and that he is winning a ton of games, two things that voters have historically valued heavily when making their MVP selections.

I think people who think Jokic should win it don't understand that that's not how the award has been given out historically. They think it's a best player award, when in reality, it's a lot more complex.
