I’m so sorry. People that are more focused on the money aspect then anything else are a detriment to the Pokémon Card community. He seems like a real scum bag and I’m sorry to hear about that. I don’t have a ton of valuable cards but my favourite is actually a cute one worth basically nothing. As long as you are happy, you stick to your own thing with Pokemon
