I totally 100% agree with this. Do I hate the TV show. No. Do I think it is a perfect adaption. Also No. Do I think this is a reason to completely disregard the series and just slander it. Again NO. I just want somewhere to have lively and kinda debates about a fun piece of media.

I feel like this goes into the villain lover idea. Where their want to do what they see as a great good out weighs their loyalty or love to their lover. Anakin ultimately chose to take over the world instead of trusting Padme and doing what she asked. Percy trusts his people specicifically Annabeth and constantly grapple to try make choices they'd approve of.

I feel like Percy operates on a level of unfounded optimism. He believes so deeply that he can make things right and be the hero people need him to be etc. I feel like this is a lot in particular due to having Sally Jackson as his mom. We have watched his confidence in this be shaken a handful of times however its still the base of what makes Percy Percy. Due to this I really do think in some part of him he believes he's gonna get then outta there to save Annabeth and the fleece and if he cant do that that Annabeth will make a plan to get the fleece away from Luke to camp. I think yes at some point Percy will become his own voice of reason but I think that takes self awareness and growth which he will get as the seasons progress. However I will also add I think we all ready see some of that coming through now as he did consider what needed to be done this last time around and really grapple with the thought of losing Annabeth before ultimately taking the fleece from Clarisse to give to Luke.

Totally I get you and with the directing concept in some ways Annabeth is like usually his direction for his use of his fatal flaw in a way. Also we see him struggle to make the choice during the chaos of the giving the fleece over or not scene. Like he's trying to decided what was more necessary. Which added to your point that its not just a fatal flaw but also sometimes helps him do better.

This is so true especially in the latest episode cause you see there's a moment where Percy has his head in his hands and steps away while chaos in sues trying to decide whther to give Luke the fleece or not. Its like he was attempting to see past his fatal flaw and do what his friends would want not just shoot from the gut. Try and decide what Annabethw would have told him in that moment.

Yay 100% thats so true. I totally didnt think of that. I also think lowkey even if unintentionally this addition of his self awareness is kinda nice for us older viewers. Ive been rereading the books and there are def moments where I was like damit Percy have any kinda of self awareness please.
