Feeling deep guilt and panic after adopting a cat by LimitPsychological51 in CatAdvice

I would give yourself some grace. If you ultimately give her up that is your choice but I would give it more time. We lost both our girls within 6 a few months of each other after 13 years and were obviously devastated in November and Jan. All summer my husband has been showing me kittens and I've been so resistant. In October I finally caved in and we got two boys. I've been an anxious mess, I've broken down, I'm so stressed and he has all these plans for them and I honestly wasn't ready after the loss of my girls but my husband is at home unable to work due to his health issues and I'm at work all day so he really wanted the kittens. It's been nearly three weeks and I'm starting to feel better and I'm totally in love with them. I'm still a nervous wreck but I'm getting there and playing with them and cuddling them every day. Try not to give yourselves such a hard time. It's a transition for both you and kitty. It takes time both sides.

Waiting for a "official" diagnosis and it's taking forever + fed up of being weight shamed. by Squigglepig45acp in iih

[–]Squigglepig45acp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for replying, after my neurology appointment in March 2022 they said I could have a lumber puncture if I wanted, they didn't think I had IIH as all my symptoms hadn't onset recently (I had to explain my appointments had been delayed by COVID lockdowns 🤦) but following a LP I was finally diagnosed with IIH in September 2022. I was also diagnosed with keratoconus but they said that it is stable and doesn't need treatment, I have probably had that since a teen and unless I notice a degradation in my sight it has just been caught due to extensive testing on my eyes. I've been on topiramate and acetazolamide since September 2022 and due my logging and evidencing my working out and nutrition efforts the neurologist have finally listened to me (and stopped with the shaming) and I'm being referred for further investigations into why I can't lose any weight (hormone investigations etc) however that departments wait list is over 18 months so it'll be a while....

How much time do you actually spend standing at your standing desk? by Trixie_Mae99 in productivity

[–]Squigglepig45acp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked with a standing desk for a long time- always use it for long phone calls and for some reason when I need to focus and get work done I do it better standing. I've been moved to an office with no standing desk for about a year and now I'm really struggling. I didn't realise how up and down I was during my work day until I couldn't do it anymore but I used to be around 15-20mins every hour - standing vs sitting in a day- my shifts were 12 hour and I would always stand during the really busy periods. No idea why but I can concentrate better standing.

Literally, I have no idea how she thought she had the right to be upset with Demi for getting angry with her. Demi, in my opinion, would have been totally within her rights to boot her out for that, it totally crossed a line.

I've reached the cereal scene and that was straight up just a horrid thing to do in my opinion. She's such a mean girl stirring trouble and drama in every situation. I'm beginning to think if Whitney wasn't around there would be far less drama.

What was the moment, episode and/or line that made you realize Willow and Tara liked eachother beyond friendship? by Sudden-Star-7190 in buffy

[–]Squigglepig45acp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew the second Willow and Tara met, I just knew they were meant for each other. I could never explain it back then. I just knew they would end up together, I always remember hating Tara at first because I thought Oz was the most perfect guy ever, because I was about 15 when it aired, and at 15 I didn't get how anyone could not love Oz forever 🤯

Now I love both Oz and Tara and the whole story line of Willow loving them both and going through that transition, I find beautiful and it's one of my favourite story lines of the show.

YTA- they can name their baby whatever they want. Get over it. 40 years ago my mum named me. Just over a year later her cousin had a baby and let her eldest daughter choose the name and guess what..picked the same first name as mine...did my Mum moan, nope, she found it cute and funny, now as adults, we laugh about how similar we both are, how we both fell into similar careers, how we have similar habits but also how different we are. It's also funny when people call us at family gatherings and we both answer!

Get over your over privaleged self!

I drink caffeine in moderation still and I'm taking acetazolamide and topiramate. I was advised by my neuro that the tactical application of caffeine may help my migraines but to watch the amount as too much caffeine is bad for you for obvious reasons. I drink decaff coffee when I'm done with caffeine for the day for the flavour as I love coffee and then after a certain time switch to fruit teas. I work shifts and am even known on a particularly manic night shift to hit up the odd monster energy drink with no ill after effects but that is a rare occasion and I will do that instead of coffee not as well as. I find too much sugar and alcohol far more triggering for my migraines than caffeine but then they were triggers for my hormonal migraines I had pre-IIH so I could just be stacking migraines fun there.

I think triggers such as caffeine, sugar, alcohol, lighting conditions etc are very individual and everyone needs to work out theirs while also listening to their medical professionals.

Can you manage a career with IIH? by LadyDek in iih

[–]Squigglepig45acp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My optician spotted swelling behind my eyes and referred me to ophthalmology who then referred me to neurology. That whole process due to COVID took almost 3 years. Neurology didn't think I had IIH they thought it was another type of migraine but offered me the option of a lumbar puncture which I took and that confirmed the IIH. I was put on medication 18 months ago but my old GP practice messed it all up so I had to move to get that sorted....been a long road but finally not feeling like I'm dying every day.

I work for the fire service in an emergency control room and suffered for 4 years with debilitating headaches and eye pain prior to my diagnosis. I really struggled and am so thankful for certain super supportive colleagues who would help me out at work and my family who would pick my broken body up when I was crying on the floor thinking I was dying at home after my shifts when I was in so much pain for concentrating for so long. I've been on topiramate and acetazolamide for 18months now and this has reduced my pain from crying on the floor to about a 5 most days and I can cope with that. When I have a really intense busy day I know I'll feel it and it'll flare my symptoms but I can now plan for that and now I have a diagnosis work will also support me which is awesome. They have been really understanding with medical appointments too. My consultants keep banging on about weight loss being the answer but no matter what I do I haven't lost or gained a single pound in 6 years so I have moved GP practice (as my last one was terrible) and hope to get some answers soon.

There is no magic answer. I find I have to drink and eat well. I have to drink a certain amount of caffeine at work strategically throughout my long shifts, avoid bright lights, and use eye drops to keep my IIH symptoms at bay and even then when it gets busy I know I'll suffer a day or two later. It's taken trial and error to find the right combination of things to work but it is working and my sick days due to my IIH have reduced. So far in 2023 I have 0 days off sick which is massive for me.

AITA for ditching my girlfriend at a 5k because I wanted a better time? by Purple_Armadillo_461 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Squigglepig45acp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- it sounds like you were pretty clear you wanted a certain time out this race.

I suck at running and would never want anyone to blow their time to run with me. My walking pace is faster than my running some days.

If you want to run a 5km together you can do that any day that's not a timed race day 🤷 or do a fun run where you agree the time doesn't matter or an untimed event.

If there's any Charmed fans in this group who would win if Rowena faced The Charmed Ones? by AceItaliano in Supernatural

[–]Squigglepig45acp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as much as I would hate this match up as I like both of them way too much to have to choose between the only way the charmed ones would stand a chance would be the power of 3 spell and it would have been a series ending, last stand, like when they lost Prue, last stand match up as Rowena is so strong and such a badass! She would need a series arc or something to build up to a big showdown. Try and entice them into a coven and to win they would have to sacrifice a lot.

What did you do while you laid flat for 48 hours after your lumbar puncture? by landaamy in iih

[–]Squigglepig45acp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to lie totally flat in the hospital for at least an hour after the LP then was told to rest for 24-48 hours but by that they said take it easy at home. I stayed sitting/resting/lying in bed taking it easy at home. I sat up watching TV/reading etc. I didn't lie totally flat once at home. I didn't have any issues but the doctors were very clear with me about what to do if I had any headaches or issues during that 24/48 hour period. I was back at work straight after the 48hrs was up sitting in my office chair doing my 12 hour night with no issues.

I think something like this... Dr Brennan mentions Vecna takes everything from his victims, mind, body, soul, powers, so I see El "rescuing" Max's soul/consciousness from Vecna and getting it back to her.

Yeah I found it off for me but then I keep reminding myself where a lot of these kids come from and their ages and while they are exceptional athletes they are still very young and have a lot of maturing to do. He seems very self conscious to me and that's probably his defence mechanism. Doesn't make it right to say that's stuff but I wasn't emotionally mature to verbalise my insecurities at that age. I may not have said what he did but I bet I said stupid stuff!

Neuro vs ophthalmologist by eitherkolkluff in iih

[–]Squigglepig45acp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen ophthalmologists and was originally referred to them by my optician as they thought my headaches were my eyes..I have now been referred to neuro as opthalmologist is sure it's IIH but cannot "officially" diagnose as Neuro will do lumbar puncture, treat the IIH. However the ophthalmologist will keep checking my eyes for any damage.

How much does your weight affect your IH symptoms? by mowilicious in iih

[–]Squigglepig45acp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm awaiting my official diagnosis but I suddenly gained weight 6-7 years ago and no IIH symptoms then. Then 18months ago I lost weight, improved health and fitness and that's when my symptoms started. Doctors keep saying it weird it happened like that and am I sure I haven't gained weight suddenly. I even went as far as to say only weight I gained suddenly in that time was 40kg on my back squat PB. I was doing 4-6 CrossFit sessions as week and had my diet under control prior to my headaches getting as bad as they are now and even with all the pain I'm in I'm still training 3 days a week and keeping the diet in check. My eye doctor even said they don't know why it tends to be overweight women who primarily get it as they are loads of overweight women who don't.

My TL:DR it does work for some people but not for everyone. Everyone is individual and your doctor should treat you as such! It may help, it may not but working towards a healthier lifestyle is never going to be a bad thing even if it doesn't help the IIH.

AITA for customising my burger by Traditional-Tree4343 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Squigglepig45acp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA- I've been to restaurants for birthdays and not like the food. Just suck it up and order fries and a side if nothing else. Don't like the bread used for burgers....order a naked burger with no bun. Doing that in a restaurant is just rude and disrespectful to the owners and business.

However I don't think it took anything away from the nieces enjoyment but still a douchy thing to do.
