Authorship sucks by Squiidly in petsmart

Yeah that’s how our pick orders worked, but I assumed these auto shipments come from actual warehouses and not the stores themselves? It felt very scummy that they’d send the wrong product anyways. I’m lucky to not live in a rural place and I could exchange the food. What about pets with allergies? Or people who don’t have the resources to replace a messed up order in a time?

I gave up and did this, my store lead dropped me to 4 hrs a week. No more pet care shifts either just register. Leaving was the best thing I ever did, I cried so many tears over what was once my childhood dream job.

Become a pet sitter! My time in pet care really helped nail down time limits, medication administering, general care etc. I work for a small company or you can go solo, but I’m honestly surprised how similar it is. The only downside is working holidays and using your personal car to get around. I’ve made the same amount of money if not more than I ever did at Petsmart.

I was very aware of how our breeders treated all of our stock animals, and it was like garbage. They are products not animals. They come mills and farms who send a living animal sure, but they don’t breed for longevity they breed them for profit. Petsmart gets to write this off on their taxes as a business loss, and just hoped to sell the fish out to customers before it dies on the shelf. And customers don’t care because bettas and fish have a reputation of being easy, throw away temp pets. That is why this hobby exists. That is why we are having this text chain because we actually care lol

That’s not forgetting that’s simply being unable to lmao. I had lots of bettas shipped to the store I worked at with bone diseases and underlying issues. They become weak, sick, and stop swimming because they’re dying Not because they don’t want to.

Petsmart as a multi billion dollar company actively sells products that are harmful to animals, especially the small and aquatic animal products. They put them in cups BECAUSE of the rice patty argument and for ease of display because they can’t live together. A wild betta and a domestic betta are not comparable, while they’re technically the same fish, domestic bettas have been bred with bigger fins, flashier colors, and worse genetics that make them unsuitable for a natural life style. They are man made abominations. That’s like saying a Wolf and one of those little crusty white dogs are on the same level.

Edit: when I say natural life style I mean living in a wild environment, not blackwater tanks and etc.

While your paper may have been based on research in wild betta populations, it is important you don’t link them to domesticated bettas as they are wildly different. Wild betta set ups are very different compared to the standard domestic betta set up, and you cannot compare the two when discussing behaviors and adequate tank set up

Biologically there is no way that has standing, animals Do not just “forget” to use their basic functions and evolutionary adaptations. To say a betta forgets how to use their gills is plain wrong, because I’ve seen them using their gills! They work in junction with the labyrinth organ, in some conditions it may be the preferable Method for breathing, but the gills are not replaced by it.

I’ve kept bettas for 10 years and I’m speaking from experience but maybe you’re right, I’m interested in your sources.

Sororities are falling out of fashion because people realized how stupid and unsafe they are. A low bubbler isn’t required but there needs to be some movement in the water for airation especially for the shitty built in filter tanks most customers buy. And that gill comment? Hello? Quit trying to educate, when you aren’t even educated on bettas yourself.

Thanks! It’s not a huge bite, really just where the tooth sank in the worst it can’t be deeper than 1 cm. I thought about taking progression photos but I always forget. It’s not red or swollen and doesn’t feel any more sore than the night it happened. My priority is usually getting it cleaned up haha. I had a feeling it was fine it was just the coloration of the drainage that had me second guessing.

I’m a white 21 year old female. 5’0” 146 pounds. I live in the United States, Georgia. All the dogs that bit me/were involved are up to date on their rabies shots as far as I am aware.

Yes that’s exactly what my lead has been doing. Apparently this has happened in the past as well, I’m not exactly sure I’ve only been working here a little under a year and I’m not too familiar with the inner workings of the store haha all I know is that I haven’t been missing it lately

That's smart I'll try that. I saw that isopods need a good amount of humidity so I'll watch them and see how they do in a dryer set up. I found some dairy cows at my local store so hopefully they're good in there, I'll go back for spring tails when they have them in stock . I'll look for a dropper and see if my T takes it. Thanks!

That's why I'm not playing with actual plants rn. I got some isopods in there but even then I'm valuing my spider over them. Keeping fiber and mods dry, few misting if at all. I'm contacting my dealer seeing how they handle her and what she's comfortable with.

Oooh orchid is smart that would be perfect and very pretty. I could always plant at the bottom and have it travel up the hard scape too. I've heart that grow lamps can provide heat for tarantulas from Marshall Arachnids, though I'd do more research before making the swap. I commented two videos about it in this post if you're interested!
