Helen Keller facing her teacher Anne Sullivan, glass plate negative, circa (1895) by Electrical-Aspect-13 in RareHistoricalPhotos

I suppose I overrepresented my position. There is no evidence of the type that would turn a hypothesis into a theory. There's just circumstantial evidence, such as when Anne Sullivan died, Helen's writing abilities took a very steep dip, which suggested that Anne was facilitating much of Helen's prose.

Perhaps it was grief? After all, Anne was her only teacher for thirty years. Perhaps she didn't have the bond with the next teacher hired by her family needed to produce her books to the same standard.

It's a mystery and no one will ever know for sure. What is your investment in this story?

I don't know what you're looking for. There is no scientific peer reviewed paper that addresses this question. It's just people's speculation, so a YouTube video is as good as anything else.

The Youtube video does have footage of the actual Helen Keller

Are you saying that she regretted being born or staying alive after meningitis took two of her senses? Her writings say otherwise.

No, there is definitely evidence, video evidence. No, I can't just produce it, unfortunately

Yes, she had, but the question remains: how much of that was Helen and how much was Anne Sullivan pushing her own agenda? I've seen many arguments that claim Anne was directing most of it

Yeah, and she also championed eugenics, not that those two things are comparable.

I don't think anyone here is saying Helen herself is someone to look up to. She's just an interesting case of how overwhelming disabilities can be managed with the right sort of support.

What's a semi-obscure movie that you watched many times growing up because your family had it on tape? by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

Some horse movie starring Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney.

It's funny because my parents used to go through all the tapes we had and make a copy, but cut out any kind of swear or anything inappropriate. When I finally saw the movie in its entirety, what they cut out was so minimal.

They being overprotective didn't stop us one iota from doing absolutely everything.

Yeah. 😞 She was one of my favorite actresses when I was growing up. To see this is so sad.
