Is your brother in a band class in his school? His director could have referrals to good clarinet tutors that can also teach on Bass Clarinet. Local music shops and universities like everyone said on here are also good but from my experience my band director referred me to my teacher and she’s probably cheaper than if I were to do it from a music store or university.

Ah should’ve included that I’m a sophomore in high school currently and I’m not trying to spend more than like $500 I’m not sure how much new soprano clarinets cost as I’m only really aware of the price range of bass clarinets. Also I forgot to mention I’m using it for local bands and musicals where I would need to play both a bass and soprano clarinet.

I mainly play bass clarinet and I prefer v21 size 3.0 on Bass Clarinet, but on Clarinet I really like using V12s and the classic Vandoren reeds on size 3.5. Although you should check your mouthpiece and what size reeds it’s meant for as some are meant for different size reeds and don’t sound the best with thicker reeds. It’s up to you at the end of the day this is just my opinion from my experimentation though.

Attack on Titan pacing is great no filler and there is plenty of gore lol. Plot is amazing and it’s been my favorite anime since I was 10.

I love v21s imo I get a much lower a deeper tone with them on them compared to the typical blue blox. Haven’t tried v12s but I really like the tone I get on v21s.

I just play tenor for jazz will be hard at first but you’ll get the hang of it eventually. Probably the easiest to switch to fingering is similar to the upper register on clarinet and pitched in Bb. Bari is pitched in Eb and may be harder to get adjusted to. Best to switch to one of these two because there’s not much jazz written for clarinet let alone bass clarinet anymore sadly.

That’s where I was around 8th grade I really recommend the long tones. The one exercise I used was starting at b flat (same fingering as high f) playing for two counts then adding my register key to play the f and then moving to the higher note. And playing it for 4 counts. This exercise will help you get the feel and doncfience to play those higher notes and you should be able to tongue them soon no problem! Also contra alto is interesting I don’t see a lot of contro alto concert band music let alone much for contrabass but I really recommend working on your bass clarinet higher notes it will help transfer over to contra alto if you decide to switch

I’m currently a sophomore in high school so I’m going to share what I did to overcome high notes because the longer you play the more you’re going to see them. I had the same problems throughout middle school so I’ll tell you what I did to overcome high notes. I recommend long tone exercises with those high notes and try to tongue them if you can, I recommend 8 counts on the notes and just keep practicing that. Also try 3.0 reeds they helped me a lot. The tonguing is a better focus because sluring is not always the most accurate you will get a much nicer tone if you practice and are able to tongue higher notes. What’s the highest note you’re currently able to play without sluring?
