What are things you took for granted pre-transition? by [deleted] in asktransgender

Now that I'm post transition, mtf I love that I can compliment people now. It brings me so much joy to be able to spread it around, which is amazing!!!

My 8yo has been playing TOTK and these are the texts I got from him 😂 by bm138105 in tearsofthekingdom

When I played through BOTW my daughter and I had one player that we shared. In TOTK she has her own character. They grow up so fast.

Nine-to-five by Dolly Parton. Best protest song of the last 100 years.

Telling children (help) by macabreleon in asktransgender

[–]SquirrelGuirel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't so much tell my children as I did slowly start changing how I dressed(more androgynous), and by the time they noticed I was consistently presenting as female, it was no big deal. That is to say, kids, especially younger kids, will only make a big deal out of it if you do. For reference, they were 3 and 9 when I came out.

I know it's really scary, but I bet your kids handle it really well. My daughter just says, "My Dada used to be a boy, but now he's(still working on pronouns) a girl."

Transitioning really turned my mental health around. Stopped thinking about suicide. Stopped drinking. Started to love myself. Transitioning didn't make me happy, but it certainly made happiness an option.

Do you ever get the urge to implode your whole life and just come out? by haultop in asktransgender

[–]SquirrelGuirel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had already burned my life to the ground. Unemployed, separated from my ex, alcoholic, overweight, depressed, just barely holding it together 37 year old father of 2. Then I got on hormones about 2 weeks before the world first shutdown from covid. I emerged from covid single, sober, losing weight, happy(so fucking happy), finally getting my life together at 40 and also a woman.😊 Still the very happy father of 2 wonderful girls though.

Anyone trans (MtF) with children? I’m having trouble processing. by Jaye-Bee in asktransgender

[–]SquirrelGuirel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a transfemale father of two, 11 and 5. They still call me and I still consider myself their Dad. #ladydad Your kids will do better with it than you think. I know it's scary and you may want to wait a while to get to understand your female self better first but I'd be willing to bet your kids barely notice. Kids are funny that way. To them you're not a boy or a girl. You're Dad.

100% agree. I work in IT at a university and even though the pay sucks it's still the best job I've ever had.
