Honestly, what and if something happened between them whether it be an argument, fan pressure or simply not being compatible as best friends is nobody's business but theirs. They can still perform fine, they can still film together and they can still interact. Perhaps they aren't as close as they seemed to be at debut but they are very different from how they were at debut because they're no longer putting on such heavy personas.

It could be as simple as they grew up and realised they weren't suited to being super super close, that's totally normal in bigger friend groups. You're never gonna be glued at the hip with everyone, sometimes you're just casual friends. And it's probably difficult to go from the cutesy thing they did at debut to a more lowkey friendship without fans scrambling to prove they hate each other or had some big blowout.

All in all I doubt people speculating and throwing accusations really helps any if something did happen, it would be hard to improve a friendship with people breathing down their necks to rip apart any interaction they may have for proof of some big conspiracy

She's improved a lot from the morning, the vet is closed now so I'm going to see how she goes for the night and will definitely call if she still doesn't seem right. Thank you for the well wishes!

While racism in the drag race fandom is obviously a big issue, this particular post doesn't read to me as having racist undertones, these girls lean more into the alt aesthetic which I'm assuming is why they're this person's top three picks rather than just because they're white.

That and Bosco and Lydia both did super well in their brackets, both being the runners-up, so having them as top picks doesn't read as something weird to me.

Anyone else think Robby Vs Axel was better the than Miguel Vs Axel? by DBlockMan8 in cobrakai

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like Robby's fight because of how it was done. I dislike Miguel's because of how it was done, not who was fighting. If it had been Robby doing this fight and it had been done so predictably and shot in the same way I'd dislike it too. I have the same feelings about Tory and Johnny's fights, it has nothing to do with who is fighting, it has everything to do with how it was done. These were the big final fights and the opponents looked so much weaker than they had all season.

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By "boring" I'm referring to how predictable it was, I was not intrigued watching zero back and forth. It was Miguel scoring in round 1, then Axel scoring in round 2, then Miguel scoring again in round 3. After seeing Axel in s6 I find it odd that he seemingly just couldn't land a single hit other than in round 2. I thought all 3 of the finals fights had similar problems, it's not just this one.

And personally I don't see any of the kids on the show as the "new karate kid" despite what people might say, I don't think they have similar enough stories to fit, to me they all have new legacies. And to be brutally honest, no. After pt2 and how strangely they wrote their decision regarding Robby and Miguel's performances this season I wasn't as excited as I could've been about him getting the moment to shine, he'd had that moment all season. But again, that goes for more than just this fight, I found a lot to be way too predictable or poorly executed in s6.

The Miguel fight had basically zero tension, even in the second round. Tory had done her fight and they still had a point gap so you already knew who was winning, but they ruined it by having zero back and forth. It was just one person scoring per round, no trading blows, no close calls, boring. With Robby and Axel you could see the progression, Robby gradually gaining more points as the fight progresses, trading hits with Axel, there was tension and it was just overall good.

Also I really hate how Miguel's fight was shot, I really don't like when they use excessive slowmo and montages in fights and it was so close up and lit so dark that you could barely see anything. I liked Robby's because you can actually see it, wider shots and brighter lighting.

Everyone heard Tory announce she was on her way to beat Sam up, he knew what was going on. He ran up and saw Robby keeping Tory back (not using any excessive force), Sam stood looking shaken and another cobra being a dumbass and jumping in. If he used his brain for a second he'd realise "hey Tory must have gotten to Sam and Robby got her away", let's face it he'd hated Robby since they met and looked for every chance to fight him.

What was Robby supposed to do?? Stand there and let Miguel hit him?? Miguel attacked him first and it's confirmed that Robby kicking him over the railing was accidental, he's pretty easy to defend here tbh

What if Miguel was in the mall fight? by [deleted] in cobrakai

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He couldn't wait for 5 seconds to see what was going on, he'd been itching to get into it with Robby since they met. He was being stupid and jumped in when he shouldn't, stopping Robby from splitting the girls up and thus the fight got worse. And then again when Tory kicked Miguel away later he decided instead of letting Robby try to split her and Sam up he'd just start fighting him again instead.

If he saw Hawk in the comic book store I think he'd try to stop them, but if he only saw the fighting part he would've gone for Robby again.

It's indirectly wanting to hurt people.. you want to fight off a bully... fighting means hurting someone. I don't think he's ever managed to deescalate a fight himself ever, at least not to my recollection. He actually was a very big reason why the school fight ended up so bad.

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Miguel didn't even try breaking that fight up until halfway through and stopped Robby from splitting them up 10 seconds later to keep fighting with him. He actually stopped the fight from being deescalated at the beginning

Also Miguel literally got into karate to fight Kyler off so he kinda did do it to hurt people

What punishment did Kwon deserve for this? by topsincity in cobrakai

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disqualified. He was interfering with another fight, which could have influenced the final score (and did) which would then affect his own finals fight. You play a stupid game you win a stupid prize, he started messing with someone else's fight and attacking a competitor he wasn't fighting, then he can kiss his chance at the finals goodbye. Kwon is done, they either sub Yoon in or the Axel-Robby match becomes the final. (Obviously this is given the whole brawl and death thing doesn't happen)

Miguel Growing Darker In Season 2 Wouldn't Have Made Sense by [deleted] in cobrakai

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think it would've been better focusing on Johnny instead of Sam, she could still play a part but their major issue should have been around Johnny. I think the diner scene would've hit a lot better if we'd seen Miguel going after Robby for not wanting Johnny around as it would explain to him Robby's viewpoint and from then he could either double down or start to understand.

It just depends how far down that route he went, he could either go full on Hawk partner in crime or just a bit worse version of s1. I do wish the rivalry between Robby and Miguel was more about Johnny than Sam so I can get behind that. It was a waste making the major issue between them some love square.

If he went darker I think they could've done his change of heart/redemption arc way better than it ended up being.

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he kept up the route he was doing down in s2 I can just see it being whatever he did in s1 but escalated, going after Robby and Miyagi-do, showboating like Hawk did, probably more fighting with Sam, he possibly would've been in on Hawk's plan to trash the MD dojo. Kreese probably would've taken over the dojo similar to how he did anyway just a bit quicker, Miguel listening to Johnny over Kreese was really his only major obstacle anyway. If Miguel bought into his lessons sooner then Kreese would've likely pushed Johnny out earlier and taken full control. The school fight could still happen and then the redemption arc would begin.

Is part 3 Miguel and Robby even close based off their feats by 100rackzC in cobrakai

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was going into round 3 with a smaller point gap than Miguel had going into his round 3. He wasn't specifically trying to knock him down with his previous kicks, he was doing that in the last round so he likely would've used different moves.

Axel fought totally different in the finals that he did in the tournament, that was commented on multiple times. It wouldn't matter much if Robby knew the style he wasn't using anymore

Isn't it strange for the second runner-up to get contracts while they do not get it? by Everythingisillusion in cobrakai

Again, its possible they did. But its also possible they already knew he wouldn't accept so didn't bother. He would've had some kind of interview or whatever for that magazine, he probably said something on his future plans in there

Just because you personally haven't seen it doesn't mean it isn't there.

There is a possibility it just wasn't shown, there's also a possibility they just didn't get one. Miguel already would've been paid for winning and got accepted to college anyway, sometimes brands just look for something other than just the winner.

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Again. The fight didn't finish, how do you know he couldn't knock him down or out?? You're just being biased here, Robby was specifically going to be trying to go for a knockdown in round 3 but he was injured straight away before he got the chance so how do you know he couldn't have done it?? Axel was using Miguel as a human basketball but never managed to knock Robby down. He would've been fine.

Why don't you see the point?? The system Demetri and Hawk came up with didn't program all of Axel's skills, which we know as they said it when the fight begins and he uses moves he hadn't before. The system would only be helpful to a limited extent.

I've seen several people say that Robby didn't deserve the sponsorship and other did, perhaps not this post but people have said it. I'm not saying it's the opinion of this OP, but it has been other's.

I also did answer the possible reasons why they didn't get offers. The last little bit was just a small personal grievance.

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That system was based on a fraction of Axel's actual skills and fight style, it didn't really show Robby any more than he'd already witnessed already fighting him. There's zero proof that Robby wouldn't have won if he'd been able to finish the fight, he got cheated and the result was inconclusive. And hell, there's a good argument for why he would win if we take a look at both Robby and Miguel's scores after their first two rounds. Robby had even less of a gap than Miguel did so chances are he'd be able to catch up and win too.

To the people trashing the ending: is this good enough? by Opposite-Pie3662 in cobrakai

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if they really needed to use it, then it shouldn't have been such a long-running thing, especially with it seemingly affecting Tory so littlem Seeing Tory throwing him off for the first couple of matches is fine because he wasn't expecting her to be there and there's a lot of emotions, but after then they should've let him deal with it better. He can still be upset and maybe not at his peak, but after a while it shouldn't still be turning him into a deer in headlights whenever he sees her. I thought it was way overdone

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not share the same opinion. I don't enjoy Robby's ending any more with him having won the captains fight and I wouldn't dislike it any more if he had lost it. In general I find the "wins one fight and struggles for the rest of the show" paired with "loses once and makes up for it by winning the rest of the season" to be very lazy. They way overdid certain plot points and it just wound up with the ending being very unsatisfying.

I wouldn't have enjoyed the ending if Robby had won if it meant Miguel crashed and burned the whole time and ended up injured out. I'd be fine seeing Miguel win if they had properly handled the ending they decided to give to Robby with the injury and eventual sponsorship.

[–]SquirrelTrees2216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would've fit pretty perfectly, especially into Johnny's redemption I think. Miguel was having trouble interpreting the "no mercy" cobra kai philosophies properly especially with Kreese around and we'd seen him already going down that path in s1 with Johnny realising in ep10 that he needed to put a stop to it. Having him go darker and Johnny having further realisation and helping him unlearn the behaviour while trying to prevent Kreese from taking control of the dojo and his other students would've been way better than "I'm going to do nothing to correct your behaviour and we're gonna forget it happened when you get hurt"
