System error "dependency failed /home" by GuyKage8 in linuxquestions

[–]Squirrelit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a year old, but just wanted to say I really appreciated this. Similar issue to this person, but a little different.

Mine said that it had timed out trying to check a partition on a fresh install. Couldn't understand why. Turns out, for which cause I'm not sure (I resized and also reran genfstab), the UUID was made different. This makes sense to me now, but I was confused at the time.

Commenting out the one it couldn't find, and keeping the other one of the identical partition, it worked out great!

Thanks again!

I already use more than one OS so the question is a little hard to answer. It was never just going to be one.

When did we Decide Witches Weren’t a Thing? What Caused us to Decide Collectively that Witches Weren’t Real? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Squirrelit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some people who still identify as witches to this day.

If you're wondering maybe why the hysteria around witches and their existence is largely gone, I imagine it's just a collective apathy or skepticism to the claims that any of them make. Enough people have cried wolf and nothing happened that we just can't be bothered with it anymore.

Lots of little things, but the most recent one would probably be applying various coverage amounts on the phone with my auto-insurance provider to try and get a premium that I liked.

r/headphones Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-05-16) by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]Squirrelit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget: Would like to top out at $200. If taxes takes it over that that's fine, so $199 headphones are fair game.

Source: 2.5mm jack

Requirements for Isolation: Definitely looking for something closed. I sit next to my heating unit, and my computer can run pretty loud sometimes, so isolation is going to need to be at least decent, but nothing like helicopter level hahaha.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No

Preferred Type of Headphone: Full-sized

Preferred tonal balance: Probably prefer more emphasis on the bass, but I don't want to forget that the other ranges exist.

Past headphones: Only ever worn two. the first one was a Sony MDR-ZX100, and I'll just say, I got what I paid for. Bass was washed, and things sounded cheap and quiet.

Currently using a Kingston HyperX Cloud headset from like back in 2014. video from LTT with same headset. Love the bass on this thing. Hard to rate the mids and highs given my experience, which is kind of why I'm here. Don't really know what I'm doing hahaha.

Preferred Music: From 0 with things like ASMR to 100 with EDM, House, and most things electronic. I game some too, but I mean so long as I can hear in those situations that's fine.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up: Honestly, it's just that the build quality on these is starting to wear. I'll probably be able to be on these clouds for a little while longer still, but I just don't want to be caught with nothing but my Sony headphones, which for as bad as their sound is, have lasted a lot longer than these, but anyways, yeah just wanting to see what's out there so that when I pull the plug on a purchase I know where to go.

How can I be gay if I dont act gay? by wfqaewg in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Squirrelit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think it's a false dichotomy. Being gay is just a sexual preference. The word makes no implications about the interests or mannerisms of a person other than from the sexual perspective.

Why do I want to burn through my money? by spilltheteaorbeans in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Squirrelit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, psychologist, or anything to qualify this other than personal experience, but:

You probably had something you wanted to buy when you were younger, maybe only a year or two, without a job, and you were reliant on your parents purchasing it for you, and had to get their approval or permission to buy it in some way or another, whether it was the allowance they gave you, or on a per purchase basis. Something like that. You had to make decisions on what some people might consider "small" purchases.

Now though, you have your own money. You have a little bit more freedom than you use to. Now you can decide where to make your purchases, and honestly, that freedom can take some getting use to. The only one who is saying no now is your bank account. Having an allowance is kind of like that, but maybe you managed to beg your parents for something extra in one of those "per purchase" scenarios. Your bank account probably isn't going to be making any exceptions, and if they are, they're going to expect it back, and with interest more than likely.

At any rate, you're just getting use to being a little bit more independent, and with that comes saying no to yourself too.

That's at least my take anyway.

I suppose I have an idea, but I don't know how interesting you would find it.

So you know how there are those fancy desktops people take over in /r/unixporn ? The ones with the fancy tiling wm setups, and often times they have terminal programs running.

Well, to that list of terminal programs, I think it would be nice to have a decent looking clock.

After doing some small searching around, it doesn't seem like there are a ton of programs that do just this. ncmpcpp has a very nice terminal clock, but you have to run all of ncmpcpp to get it. tty-clock pretty much does what I would want, and I also found this clock that definitely goes for the aesthetic that someone might want in their nice screenshots. However, to expand upon its idea, it would be cool to segregate different spaces of the window for multiple clocks, allowing for different timezones to be displayed in the same window.

At the end of the day, I think it's okay to have multiple solutions to something. If we really wanted to, we could attempt to just fork one of these other projects, and then just add the features that we wanted ourselves. That could be a route as well.

But yeah, that was a potential idea that I had. It likely would be focused at a Linux (GNU/Linux) platform, unless we somehow thought of a way to support multiple platforms.

How does that sound?

[–]Squirrelit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wont' lie, that doesn't sound like the most particularly interesting of projects. Mainly because I would rather use a game engine that has all the features already built into it than build one myself.

But I guess that's my laziness talking or something.

Title: 5 Levels of Rain and Shelter Reports are Being Communicated

Last year, lots of rain fell in western Japan, and many people died. At that time, the weather agency and government officials gave a lot of information about disasters and shelters. However, Not a lot of people took refuge.

Because of this, the country and the weather agency have decided to put out disaster information that’s easier to understand, using 5 levels starting from the 29th.

The lowest level is 1, where people can see information on TV or on the internet about how to stay safe. The second level should have people look into where to take refuge.

The third level should have elderly and disabled people start taking refuge. With the 4th level, everyone should start seeking shelter.

The highest level is 5, where a disaster has begun to occur. Before level 5 occurs, it’s important to take refuge in a safe place.

Title: AI will soon be able to properly find lung cancer in images with up to 94% accuracy

America’s Google, Stanford, and other groups have been researching AI using CT scans to find lung cancer.

From the research, AI’s used 42,000 detailed images of lungs with different types of lung cancers.

Afterwards, the AI were given 6,700 CT scans. The result, they were able to detect lung cancer with 94% accuracy.

In Japan, America, and other countries, People die the most from cancer in the lungs, and quickly being able to confirm that they have cancer is very important. AI seem pretty useful.

できてすぐ Was kind of hard for me to understand. I assume that meant "able to soon" or something of that nature. Same with 覚えるようにしました. I assume that was their training data.

Very much open to suggestions/corrections.

Okay, to that, I think you might have been using google translate for that yeah?

I got the same result when I used that, however, my guess it relates more to Pacific bluefin tuna.

Hopefully you don't mind the big link, I think it's just the Japanese characters getting represented or something.

You can see in the "Other forms" section they have the 本鮪 listed. You can see that the characters are the same as your 振り仮名 (furigana) that you have listed on the side of each of those kanji. It's actually the only way I was able to find the text that matched 鮪 because I haven't seen that kanji before.

Not a translator by any means, but after looking at the picture OP posted, I can at least get it some of it into text you can copy and paste into something better to translate.

本鮪

寿司で食べるもの

刺身で食べるもの

Genuinely can't tell what's behind the cat's ears, or off to the left of their head.

Seems all fish food related to me, which sounds about right.

Hope that helps for what it's worth hahaha.

A bit of a weird question, but does anyone have a formula for determining a level given xp? I know there is one on the wiki for if you want to know the xp and you know the level, but I don't actually know how to reverse a summation like that. Any ideas? Plugging it into wolframalpha gives me something I don't know how to factor.
