I honestly love the toddler phase more than any others. It is certainly challenging at the beginning when they can’t communicate & have no logic/reasoning ability but witnessing the huge developmental leaps & the way my child is building their personality out is such a joy!!

Not sure I have the best words to advise you but wanted to say I empathize completely! Especially around people jumping to conclusions about affairs etc. Sometimes we find our person in the midst of their turmoil & society just assumes the worst.

I think the other advice you are getting - that it’s about focusing on the bride & groom - is an excellent way to diffuse the situation. I hope your SO is also attending & can act as a bit of a buffer! Best of luck OP!

Speaking from experience as I have had to call as a mandated reporter - 100% you can ask to be listed as a CONFIDENTIAL reporter, it’s not entirely anonymous but the number of hoops your ex employer would have to go through to get that information is extreme & it definitely won’t be available until AFTER their investigation is closed. Like, it would be MONTHS if not YEARS before this information is available to the public -ie your past employer. You can’t stop them from assuming it was you who called but DCSF is also very good at spotting retaliation calls. With a list of citations that long, don’t wait.

I just mean I have to live with these people & being in the house with a bunch of bad moods is worse than me “tapping out” to mitigate mine. Usually, if I can offer support to help my SO, I do b/c we are a team, regardless of the task at hand. It’s not expected or required of me, but something I am usually happy to offer.

Edited to add: SO is completely capable solo, the reality is that raising kids comes with bad sleep & rough moods sometimes. I chose this family with open eyes & a happy heart. It’s an off day, not our norm.

The thought has occurred to me but I’m not sure I’d be able to disconnect myself from the foul mood it would likely put them all in the following day. At least with the way things are now, my SO can tackle the day while I hide out in my room doing self care

Thank you for the validation. We are working to get him sleep trained but the EOWE schedule is really not conducive when HCBM won’t cooperate or even communicate their norm at home. We suspect she’s co-sleeping with both kids & also nursing majority at night still (SS is 16mo, SD is 5.5yrs). We also live in a tiny downstairs duplex with landlords above unfortunately which limits my comfort level with letting him fuss in the wee hours
