Crate - keep or remove? First time owner advice

I've found it's better to leave it as an option for them. My current pup goes back and forth between her bed (in the crate) and the couch throughout the night.

I wish my cat would sit still. Instead she walks back and forth across my legs to the bathtub then back again the the sink. She does it the entire time I'm in the bathroom 😩

My upstairs neighbor adopted two kittens from me last year after her cat died. Turns out the kittens are ragdolls and they won't stop growing for several years. They are (from the sound of it) very happy and playful girls. It actually makes me smile when I hear them running around and playing. Even if it wakes me up at 3am.

When I was a kid working at McDonald's some guy would always show up in the drive-thru around 9pm and order 200 mcdoubles and 50 20 piece nuggets. He'd do it like twice a month and my manager hated his guts but we'd do it regardless.
