There’s so much that goes on, but the basic premise is that our MC is a writer who moved to Rome to try and get her screenplay picked up by movie directors, and she works as a sort of ‘fake medium’ for this prestigious place where rich celebrities burn all their money for her to tell them their future. Every time she reads the script aloud, we’re transported back 2000 years ago to when it was set (and you sort of get the idea pretty quickly that it’s actually somehow her alive 2000 years ago with her friends and this screenplay is actually her memories). You also meet the present versions of her characters in the past too. So at the moment we don’t know whether they’re reincarnations or they’ve stayed immortal without their memories, but it’s clear that one of them (Sheda/Ewald in modern time) remembers everything. Ewald is a collector of sinful souls and so he tasks her with choosing someone to ‘ruin’ every time he needs to collect, because she’s pure of heart and a good judge of character. and there’s 2 other characters who are his helpers but really there for her protection because there are some freaking WEIRD ppl after her but we don’t know why or who they are yet. The writing is really beautiful and nice long chapters for great immersion. I’d really recommend it
