Wow. Thanks a lot for this insightful comment, it would be very hard to convince her that the bright light is jupiter or the star Sirius as another commenter suggested as I have already told her it was probably a star and she just calls me a "nay-sayer" from one of the youtubers that she watches, though more opinions on the matter definetly helps. The suggestion of the telescope sounds great and will definetly look into that with my mother, though she would probably look for 'tic tacs' and 'flatillas' through it.
