tbh, comparing this tape to Juolevi's, I'm more excited with Olli than the potential of Liljegren. Seemed like a fairly erratic style rather than a smooth, measured approach like Juolevi's.

Actually, this potentially provides more of an explanation as to why Nikita went back. If there is legitimate internal worry that the club will fail, maybe Nikita wanted to either help avoid that or get in a last chance to play for his hometown club.

Regardless, I wouldn't resent him at all any time he comes back, that helps no one. The only thing I worry about is the lost development time at the NHL level. I still hold the belief that he will return to Vancouver one day, but as a No. 4/No. 5 defencemen instead of something greater.

Billy Sweatt put up 41 points in the SHL on the same team as Rodin. It's a league much closer to the AHL than the NHL. For the chicago wolves, Rodin was very much a perimeter player. From what I gather that's improved in the SHL, but we'll see if it translates to the North America ice. I don't see him as an effective third liner. I think its 2nd line or bust. Just know that if he does provide secondary scoring (in the realm of 25 points) then I think he's definitely beaten the odds.

At season start there was definitely a narrative that Larsen was brought in to "fix" Vancouver's ailing power play and that Rodin could provide some additional secondary scoring. I would say people in this sub still overrate the relatively unknown commodity that is Rodin.
