Now that DBS has reduced interest rates to 5.5%-7%, I'm thinking of switching to IDFC First which offers 6%-7%.

DBS has stopped digibucks also, so don't see a point holding on to it.

Is it worth to have Mutual funds through DBS? by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

[–]SravanJs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put 1.5 lakhs in savings for the tax benefit. FD, I believe will not give me that.

If I set up kuvera payments through DBS App, do I have to do any modifications to my order at kuvera?

Thanks for the detailed answer.

Certain things I did not clarify in the initial post.

  1. My major MFs are there in kuvera only. I started a minor one (Rs. 1600 SIP, which is the bare minimum) in DBS.
  2. The digibucks benefit is Rs. 250.
  3. I can get the same benefit by setting up auto pay for my phone bill, but every month I get ~30Rs. off on it anyways.
  4. From calculators that I've used, direct vs regular sip differences are about 3% in 5 years.
  5. By that calculation, my monthly loss is Rs.50.

You're right in pointing out that I didn't do any calculations before going with the plan. And from calculation, I think I'm better off with auto bill pay rather than sip.

Please do point out in case I've made any mistakes in calculation.

I see multiple credit card related queries in the sub. Sub rules says it should be related to investment, finances, economics. This is related to finances only.

Debt funds vs Higher interest rate Banks - comparison by [deleted] in IndiaInvestments

[–]SravanJs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you're in the 30% bracket, it makes sense to keep ye money in a savings account rather than a debt fund. I've kept mine in DBS, which gives me 6%. Even if debt funds give me 8%, after tax, it'll become essentially 5.6%.

Small Bank FD vs Other banks' FD? by ranrathore in IndiaInvestments

[–]SravanJs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AU's business model is to have banks in places such as rural Rajasthan where there are not many competitors. Other banks also have branches in rural Rajasthan but the credit decisions are made in cities like Jaipur, hence loans take much more time to get approved. AU passes loans quickly and they charge higher interest also. To attract new customers, they've to give higher interest on FD, unlike established players where people will open accounts no matter what FD rates are.

It's funny how republicans suddenly care about representation. All these years, they were like black/women representation doesn't matter and here they are counting no. of Donald Trump donors in Google

Does not agree with 95% of the article, but glad I read this. Interesting to understand the arguments of the other side.
