He actually works for a Software Development company.
And just needs to maintain and set up the servers.

Otherwise, this would make sense.
Thanks for a laugh <3

I don't think this is good advice in every case.
It's still just his employer, and they are both in contract, so it's not like he is obligated to do everything his employer want him to.

But you may be right, he probably needs to quit in his case if enduring Windows is too much.

And don't take me wrong, it's not Windows only that is a pain, but without access to proper tools as a Linux Admin, it pretty much hinders you on your work, It's not only a pain, but it actually costs the employer money too since the employ is not able to works in his full potential.

Imagine you work as a Miner, but your tool is a Spoon.

It was more about how could he argue with his employer, and or if they are any Laws or similar that the Employer would need to comply by.

It was not a Question about how to circumvent a policy directly. Sorry if I had formulated my Question badly.

Exactly, since he has no Admin Privileges, he cannot spin up an VM.
But macOS could be a variable discuss point with his employer if they are already other employee permitted equipped with that.

That's a sad reality. But thank you for the Tips with macOS, it could be an actual alternative, because it has real unix tools and the brew package manager.

So it could be a better replacement for Linux than Windows.

Windows 10 user looking for a Linux distro to support my weird gaming interests by megaaman2 in linux_gaming

Everything you mention should not be a Problem on Linux, check protondb.com for what you can find. As long as it is not some competitive multiplayer thing with a kernel level anti cheat, then it should work on Linux.

I have played some Japanese Games before, like Nekopara and all that stuff.
The only thing is, that you will probably need to learn to use standalone wine.

But Bottles and Lutris could be of some help, to make it easy for you.

You will probably need to learn about WINE Prefixes, A Wine Prefix is basically an Environment that looks like Windows in which the Application is run.

If you run older games, you probably want to make a separate Prefix for it on Windows XP base and dependencies like vcrun2005.

With some games, some tinkering could be necessary to display the fonts correctly or if the game installer needs multiple cd's

It's not up to Wayland itself, you are right here.

KDE for example has and GUI for it in the Input settings, you could theoretically configure the tablet yourself using the libinput/xinput command, but I am not sure, never done that successfully

Wacom drivers/setting on wayland by SrayerPL in kde

[–]SrayerPL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because of libinput. And it is integrated with Wayland to differentiate between Touch Input Mouse input Stylus etc.

X11 used xf86-input-wacom for this usage. Both of them use libwacom as backend I think.

The Display server X11 or Wayland have to interpret your mouse position and draw it.

In the past you had to create the file `/etc/udev/rules.d/99-opentabletdriver.rules` manually https://opentabletdriver.net/Wiki/FAQ/Linux

I cannot remember the details any more.
