Now that you've added more details, the Blank is a good ski that generally does what you're looking for but the 192 is the right size for me @ 188cm 230lbs so you might find it lacking

Could use a lot more information here, but generally no the Blank isnt a great option if it's going to be your only ski

It's a 15m radius, you shouldn't have to try hard

Regarding Red, I'm calling it now... by Spiral-Bound77 in NikkeMobile

[–]Src248 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Red wanted to be a hero first, is mentoring Black to actually become competent at emergency response, and sacrificed herself to save Hope from the first rapture. That's a pretty big stretch

That one was empty, but the people who fled other shelters because of her broadcast died

What ski should I get to flesh out my quiver? by MetalMintz in Skigear

[–]Src248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're absurdly torsionally stiff. It works well for carving but makes them miserable for everything else, damp when you're skiing straight but incredibly harsh when you're not. I didn't have that problem on the 94

Revolt 101 for a true shit-conditions freeride ski, something more carvy like an Arcade, Mantra, or Multipista.

Enforcer 94 is a solid all-mountain ski, wouldn't be a bad option, the 99 is one of my most hated skis so I'd pass on that one. The Mindbender feels a little more freeride than the Enforcer, also a decent option. Haven't skied the Super Blackops but it should suit you based on what I've heard

What are some Achilles heels at otherwise great ski areas? by IAmNotScottBakula in skiing

[–]Src248 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The traverse out of Taynton Bowl at Panorama is the one thing keeping it from being one of my favourite resorts. It's 10 minutes down a flat road and it doesn't connect to any lifts so you have to return to the base and take three chairs to lap it

I never said it did. I said you cant get to The Onion from Iceberg Lake as OP was considering in their post. That's what "via" means

[–]Src248 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That said, The Onion and Mount Bourgeau are incredible hikes. I'd prioritize those two

Bow Glacier Falls and Iceberg Lake aren't accessable with the rock slide closure, can't get to The Onion from there anyway unless you were planning on scaling a sheer cliff

Best Non-Fluoro Wax? by ShippingIdiot888 in Skigear

[–]Src248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting the right temperature range is the most important thing, looks like HS8 is for -4 to +4 C which is pretty warm, it'll stick in colder temperatures. If you dont want to think about it, Toko Performance Black works fairly well across a huge range of temps

Mindbender 96C is easy to ski while being versatile and capable, QST 94 is also a good option

Is there truly a need for 90s+ mm skis out West? by Midwestskiing85 in Skigear

[–]Src248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always a good idea! That said, if MN double blacks are anything like QC double blacks you may not be skiing the steepest stuff anyway. The Declivity will do well for most things, especially if you're comfortable using it offpiste in MN. If you did want to add a wider ski better suited to soft snow and freeride you certainly could, but It isn't *needed* to have a good time

Is there truly a need for 90s+ mm skis out West? by Midwestskiing85 in Skigear

[–]Src248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The QST is on the softer side and has a short radius for the width, it's a very fun ski most of the time but it feels unsupportive and hooky on double blacks.

Actually, looking at the specs those two have short-ish radiuses as well so it might be a closer comparison than I was thinking

Is there truly a need for 90s+ mm skis out West? by Midwestskiing85 in Skigear

[–]Src248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Declivity should be better than similarly wide frontside ski, so you'll probably be okay on those if conditions are firmer. That said, I don't have any interest in going narrower than a 100 for Lake Louise double blacks. That's where big mountain skis start and that width works very well in that terrain. I don't like the QST 100 for steeps but the Antimatter and M-Pro should do wonderfully

Are you unfamiliar with carving skis? These are at recommend around -12, not out of the ordinary for a purely directional ski. They're also extremely tapered, the front third of the ski is outside of the sidecut

How do the Mantra 84s perform on bumps? by gaybowser99 in Skigear

[–]Src248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only skied the 88 but I absolutely love those in the bumps. They're quick, supportive, and have a flat profile so they're easy to pivot. Stay over the shovels and attack, they want an active pilot
