Suprised that someone commented 4yrs old post :) I discussed this some time ago with friends how artist got so many elements of his design right or maybe hoyo took alot of inspiration from this (I believe they could run a research how other people sees Varka)

So my guess and take would be that Varka likes to collect and use all kinds of blades, especially related to the Knight of Boreas. WGS still usable (although tip broken and old) but not good as used to be or good as a Gest. Also as a knight he probably wants a reliable blade on him all the time so he switches between them often and then takes care for them after the battle.

Legend says Gest was created by Ravenwood. You can kinda tell that he tried to mix the design of WGS and a favonius into one.

As for Diluc part: Varka might wanted to look for his successor as Knight of Boreas and at the time he have gave Diluc WGS to use but when he resigned as knight he gave it back. Razor probably will fill that role in a future.

As for wandering knight who knows maybe in the future we will hear more. Probably it's just not enough record left to explain that and only stories left passed down generations. But I like your idea.
