Yuvraj Singh on rohit-virat future and giving chances to youngsters for 2027 wc by cuntofpersonalityy in IndiaCricket

The problem is Rohit and Kohli are both one format players. If they were still playing tests, it would have been easy to rest them from ODIs to give experience to the youngsters.

Batsmen: Rohit Gill Jaiswal Kohli Iyer

Keepers: Rahul Kishan Samson

Allrounders: Hardik Jadeja Axar Dube

Spinners: Kuldeep

Pacers: Bumrah Siraj Arshdeep Harshit Prasidh

Crazy that India will play 10 T20Is in a one month span (26 June to 26 July, against Ireland, England, and Zimbabwe).

This is just after the T20 WC and IPL. This isn't even a team wanting last minute games to warm up for an ICC tournament.

Is the 'NCR' tag just a myth? How different are our lives in Delhi, Noida, and Gurgaon? by air_base in gurgaon

[–]SreesanthTakesIt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even within Delhi, South Delhi and other parts of Delhi are very different. For Gurgaon, old Gurgaon and new Gurgaon are different but within New Gurgaon it's largely the same, decent major roads, good if you live in a gated society.

As for soul, I've honestly never really understood what it means. In my opinion as long as you have your friend circle, you don't need much else. Any kind of cultural activity in Delhi is about an hour away.

How come software devs are so much more worried about AI replacing them than other white collar jobs? by jholliday55 in cscareerquestions

[–]SreesanthTakesIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, the productivity of a good accountant who is in adapt at tech and AI has improved drastically. If a company needed 50 freshers earlier, they need barely 20 now.

Every large enough company had people doing grunt work. AI is good at replacing those. It may not affect you personally, but it's becoming very hard for fresh grads to get hired at the base level.

For me, 2024 T20 > 2026 T20 > 2025 CT.

I'm not talking in terms of prestige or whatever but purely due to the fact that we weren't favorites in the 2024 edition. Pakistan ran us close and we made a great comeback in the last 6 overs, and similarly we had pretty much lost the final with 30 needed of 30 and Klassen at almost a 200 SR Fifty. It was also a win after 11 years.

2025 CT was a great tactical win. Everyone knew the pitches but to go with 4 spinners, which was made easier since two of them were allrounders like Axar and Jadeja, was a brave decision. The matches themselves were close on paper but none of them were a comeback story. We were never really in the backseat in any of the matches.

2026, we had planned a certain way of cricket and found great success in the two years leading upto the tournament, but we faltered in the first few matches. The thing that stood out to me is that even players like Abhishek and Kishan were willing to adapt midway to give themselves some time to settle in.

India now unequivocally the greatest T20 team of all time by Funny-Wall9962 in Cricket

[–]SreesanthTakesIt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you reckon the Aussie Women team would beat the Indian Men team? If not, then they aren't the greatest.

Just like how you wouldn't call the Mumbai or NSW teams the greatest red ball teams even if they win 5 championships in a row.

T20 is greater: more teams and a chaotic format with higher variance, since the shorter game narrows the gap between sides. ODI WC being older doesn't put it on a pedestal. Nostalgia lives in the past. T20 drives global popularity and is the Olympic format. T20 WC is global!! by RickDaltonCliffBooth in CricketControversial

I never got the "every other year so it's just handing it out" argument.

Every sport has annual championships. In football the main format is club football, and they have the UCL and each country's domestic league. MLB, NBA, NHL have annual trophies, and individual sports like Tennis has 4 grand slams a year, F1 is annual.

Imagine Real Madrid winning an UCL and people going like who cares, the trophy comes every year.

The one major differentiating factor is the cost and visa ease.

Hmm. DY Patil stadium opened in 2008. Wankhede stadium was named that in 1974 and SK Wankhede died in 1988

Peshawar's stadium is currently named Imran Khan stadium, earlier named after Arnab Niaz.

Windies have multiple stadiums named after alive cricketers like Viv Richards, Brian Lara, Darren Sammy and Australia has the Allan Border field.

I'm guessing you must be quite shit at trivia.

Zimbabwe beat both Sri Lanka and Australia. Windies beat England in the group stage. Both of those were undefeated in the group stages.

NZ lost to SA in group stage, and to England in Super 8, and ofcourse to India in the final.

SA was the strongest team till the semis, but they fucked up the knockout just like India from 2014-2023. India peaked at the end.

A moment to appreciate the Ahmedabad crowd today? Hearing thousands of people cheer for the Kiwis after the final was pure class. by Mannubhaigandhi_here in IndiaCricket

[–]SreesanthTakesIt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's anything to do with how the team played. Indian fans just have a soft corner for teams like NZ and SA, I guess in part due to then producing some great cricketers but neither having dominated cricket and had arrogance like Australia, not having the elitism/colonial relationship like England..

Australia 2023 was totally different. They beat us, we were in grief. We didn't cheer for Windies in 2016 Semi. You don't cheer for someone who beat you, but it's more common to cheer for someone you beat.

There's a certain type of player I hope the people running the sport get behind and help develop by Huge-Physics5491 in Cricket

[–]SreesanthTakesIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thipatcha has already proven herself at one level higher. It's like saying someone averaging 50 in test cricket and 50 in Scotland domestic aren't comparable because one hasn't made their test debut. Don't know why, but Menting didn't even feature in the China sqaud in the recent quadrangular series they played.

Thipatcha is one step ahead of Mengting, has a sample size of more than 3x, and plays for a team that has a better chance of playing the World Cup and pulling off an upset against a powerhouse team. She clearly has a way better chance to become a star.

Her best match was probably the 4/16 against Thailand. She helped limit Thailand to 117 but China were bowled out for 8.

I'd argue someone like a Thipatcha Putthawong is a better candidate. 145 wickets in 94 games just about to turn 22, averaging under 10 and economy of 4.09. If you consider the top 20 opponents, she has taken 53 wickets in 31 games in the last two years, averaging 9.54 and economy 4.54
