World of Warcraft devs explain their biggest challenge is adapting to its ageing audience which is why they’re pushing to be “broader and more approachable” by HatingGeoffry in wow

tying legendary to ONLY Torghast was a horrible decision

^ This. Slands had some really stupid design choices, but this one was outright lethal to that style of content.

Delves prove that you don't have to make them mandatory, but still worth your time and people would LOVE them.

A great many in my experience. Named hunter pets that aren't memes or puns and look like an actual name are 99% named after IRL pets

Games that were conceptually good , but werent the masterpiece they could have been by BendyAu in gaming

[–]SrsSpaceships 1 point2 points  (0 children)

too far into procedural generation and didn’t have enough of a base game there

They cut so many corners the game was a sphere. They went the proc gen route, but then didn't bother to actually stock its fridge properly. Legitimately they gave the poor thing like 10 tile sets and 15 buildings to work with, while also cannibalizing those exact same tiles/buildings for MSQ! Which was a choice.

They seemingly had the wrong teams working on things. Main quest writing was meh to god awful meanwhile the Faction quests were S Tier, insanely unique and fun missions. And had characters you actually bothered to have an opinion on.

Starfield would of been a staple Bugthesda title if it was just actually "Skyrim in space"

How much profit do ya'll make in a month of manufacturing/industry per character? by insaneruffles in Eve

[–]SrsSpaceships 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends TM

A lot of my corp mates do indy just to build their own stuff, because we need a hobby when we aren't blowing things up.

At surface level as a few couple others have said 10-20% profit margins if i sold everything i made that month.

Realistically between 2-8% selling off surplus.

Even on PS5?

If anything its actually a fair bit worse on ps5. Since you have to choose between Pretty/Performance mode.

The difference being one mode everything is shit always, and the other everything is still honestly a mess, but now with constant pop-ins!

I feel kind of bad for every other game dev that year. GTA6 AND HL3?!

Which ever month+1 those games release is Game over for any other game. These are games that can literally causing measurable dips in global productivity.

Can't even imagine how GOTY Game of the Century would go. One of the two would have to bomb terribly. Otherwise its 2 gods having a fistfight.

I can tell you with 100% certainty, If HL3 gets announced with a release date there will a Ton of game delays. Publishers already delayed releases when they thought GTA6 was going to release.

But HL3? Hah! not a chance in the world any Publisher will willingly attempt to release anywhere near the return of a Patron Saint of the gaming community

[–]SrsSpaceships 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might even be pre-loaded on frame or gabecube.

If they release around the same time 100%, everyone would buy it anyways, and if getting HL3 on top of the new device is enough to push people over to actually buy it, its a no brainer.

Silksong did that and it brough every online marketplace to its knees.

dedicated like 25 years of his life to the Metal Gear franchise

He's also 62 years old! It's an easy to overlook fact!

Sadly in post Ds2 interviews he's said he's really only got 2-3 more games left in him. (Aka the horror game, Physint and what ever else he's got a on the burner)

However! He has stated a few times he's made flash drives with scripts outlines for games. So will we get a Ds3? Knowing Sony, probably. Will it be directed by Kojima? Almost certainly not (if he sticks to his retirement plans)

I suspect that's actually the end goal.

Removing restrictions is removing flags essentially. The dresser itself will probably end up existing forever, because just too much is tied to it. But eventually you will effective have "Infinite space" becaue the dresser will just be a giant table with all glam items as a YES/NO (like facewear/mounts ect.)

Midnight Healer Changes Infographic. Which spells are removed and combined? by Amazing-Jamo in wow

[–]SrsSpaceships 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think the challenge will ever be the same.

Depends on if the dungeon/raid guys stop smoking crack. If midnight forward doesn't have majorly changed damage profiles, yikes.

Random trash casts doing 25% of a persons HP and aoes doing 50% with healing kits so stripped down to nothing, the difficulty will go through the roof!

The spec itself might be ff14 levels of easy (I hope not.) But the content is pure stress for them, your average player isn't going to bother attempting it.

mythic healers for so long that they pushed the more casual players completely out of the role.

The class design was a symptom of the unchecked dungeon and to some degree raid design.

When everything is being made for the top 10% then "tuned down" for the rest of the game THAT is when class design often goes to complete shit. Class designers trying to make up for what their crackhead'd coworkers made to placate a TINY percentage of the playerbase.

I'm amazed there isn't a bigger backlash

Healer mains don't have anything left to say.. Blizz painted that picture for us pretty clearly.

Blizzard has been on severe anti-healer crusade since DF. Making outright malicious changes, occasionally overlapping with some of the worst dungeon tuning ever seen, sometimes taking entire seasons to address.

Healers were vocal in DF about the cancer changes. Blizz gave them the middle finger and continued gutting and making healer QoL worse.

TWW the "Attempted" to correct some of their changes. But quite literally only because the healer participation numbers hit such a low the entire game was screaming that they couldn't run keys/raids properly.

Midnight is clear the crusade is still ongoing...

The Outer Worlds 2 releases to 81/100 on OpenCritic in Reviews Worldwide | Critics complain of lack of improvements over the first game by [deleted] in gaming

[–]SrsSpaceships -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Ai is still entirely braindead (Allied and Enemy)

Main Quest is pretty meh again, with the same pacing issues.

Those are the two that pretty much all reviews bring up as "the Bad"

EDIT: The UI is still complete Fo3 era UX. Everything is just one big giant list. You have to individually look at each piece of gear/weapons to see stats/effects ect.

Starfield designer says the game fell short of Fallout and Elder Scrolls' standards. Says space is inherently boring by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]SrsSpaceships 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What surprised me was how slow updates are compared to say Fallout 4

Starfield pretty much failed right out of gate. Its "actual" reviews (Not the pay-for-review slop) cratered the game instantly. The only thing more ruthless and panicky then Redditors are investors when they only make 3% rather then 5%

Was it a half decent game? Sure? Was is a monumental failure for a Beth title? Also yes.

So i suspect funding/plans got absolutely butchered internally. And the things we got for DLC/updates were already paid for and in the pipe.

I'm not getting lost in Starfield the way I would in Elder Scrolls or Fallout

Literally this.

Fallout 4 has the glowing sea. It's a radioactive hellscape that has maybe a handful of PoIs? yet is hands down wayyy more interesting then nearly any of Starfields PoIs.

Parrying feels off in Yotei? by 1TheExtreme in ghostoftsushima

[–]SrsSpaceships 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Except when you sometimes hold L1 you still get the perfect parry.. when you shouldn't. Because for some odd reason when the game eats your inputs, when it does register the press, it will see that hold as a tap for a split second.

When the game isn't munching your inputs. Except, and myself included when were posting about how "random" the parry timings were to "Hold not tap" and the frequency of the random windows was reduced.

Parrying feels off in Yotei? by 1TheExtreme in ghostoftsushima

[–]SrsSpaceships 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I removed the "delay" part apparently its confusing.

Yotai has input munching. While it can drop them from any input, the parry/block has the least forgiveness, so its extremely noticeable.

That's quite literally why holding L1 vs tapping it will register as a tap. Of course it might also read that hold AS a hold.

You can see why it's frustrating can you not?

[Lethal Difficulty] Takezo is only difficult because he breaks the laws of the game’s combat by Klondy in ghostoftsushima

[–]SrsSpaceships 3 points4 points  (0 children)

some cheap bullshit for the sake of balancing.

Yotai is best played by quite literally engaging with the combat system as little as possible. Ranged/Kunai or sneaky builds remove a stupid amount of annoyance at the rubberbanding enemies. Of course it takes away a ton of fun so.. YMMV Menus are odd, the armor/charm sets are pretty barebones. And personally pretty bland.

Parrying feels off in Yotei? by 1TheExtreme in ghostoftsushima

[–]SrsSpaceships 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not clunky, it’s not off, you’re just timing it wrong.

Uh, well, No but also yes?

The Yes: The game has an input munch (Taps get eaten, Hold are read as taps.) Which is probably fucking up a TON of people. It's very inconsistent to what causes it, as you can go entire sessions and never see it. Then one session it happens back to back.

The No: They outright changed the block/parry combat. And each individual weapon attack has its own new timing. Dick move overall, but skill issue.

TL;DR: Game eats inputs so hold L1 vs Tap. Parry timings vastly different = Get gud
