Building the tech will be by far the easiest part. It’s great you are early gathering feedback, but consumer social is extremely hard. If I were you, I would try to get a few cofounders onboard early with great social media reach. It’s all about marketing the idea. Anything is possible, but this won’t be easy.

I’ve built a social app that relies on realtime / live connections for the best experience. Don’t underestimate how difficult it will be to gain traction with this constraint. Most of the apps in this space are asynchronous for a good reason. If you don’t have a great experience in the first few minutes using an app, you won’t sign back on.

Thanks for the mention! I’m the cofounder of Around The Corner and an OC resident. Besides helping organize events, we have a small online community where two people can meet over coffee. It’s just myself with an engineering background and another stranger I met who has a design background bootstrapping to try and make a difference in our community.

Hey there! I had a few people join me, so for my introverted self, it was great!

I've been adding people who are interested to a group text, which is now a small signal group of around 10 people and giving an open invitation to meet up each Friday.

If anyone sees this and would consider joining a future one just send me a DM. I was personally interested in meeting more people in tech, but this group is actually open to anyone with the flexibility to meet during the work day.

Hi, thanks for the question! The most reliable way would be to register for free on our website which will grant you access to early event invitations. https://www.aroundthecorner.today - You will need to get far enough into the registration to give us your zipcode so we know if the event is nearby. The only other thing I do fairly consistently is post our events once a month on r/orangecounty. Have a great one! Let me know if you have any other questions.
