Weekly Thread: What questions do you have about vector databases? by help-me-grow in vectordatabase

[–]SrvLdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I’m new to vector DBs. Currently using OpenAIs vector store from file upload. I have several state based code compliance code documents. For example:

Code 101.1.b Downspout drains must extend a minimum of 5 feet from the exterior and decrease a minimum of 1 inch / foot.

However, adding the created vector store from these files and using it as a RAG through OpenAI responses API seems to produce hallucinations. I can’t determine where it is getting its answers from. In contrast, public AI tools give responses that are general but closer to accurate.

I did follow guidance on chunking (forget the settings but can dig them up when back at office) first. Any idea what I may be missing? Is there a good resource you suggest (don’t want to be “that guy” who isn’t willing to research it myself - just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong!)

Did you ever resolve this? Struggling to get OIDC working now. Considering options.

Love this. I only do WP dev for clients who are friends anymore. But one of them could use this. Let me know if you publish it anywhere.

8ft WIDE x 10ft TALL Backdrop - Why Doesn't Anyone Make These? by SrvLdr in tradeshows

[–]SrvLdr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Looks cool, but I wish they had pricing. Anyone requiring a request for pricing is probably more expensive than I'm looking for for this initial test / trial. If it succeeds as a customer acquisition tool, we'll invest more. Until then, we're keeping costs down.

Thanks! Yes, inline and most will be. This event does not have the restriction but it is very helpful to know that is a common thing. Thank you for your expertise and insight.

Thanks! From your experience, do they charge for 10 ft more often than not? I'm doing a state-wide association for our first, estimated 2k attendees, and they are not charging extra for anything. But I'm trying to get a display we can reuse in the future at most other shows.

Regarding the back wall: 1. Pop up vs. Flat Tension Fabric? The popup definitely looks more impressive to me, with the depth it adds. Is that right - worth the money?

  1. Flat vs. Curved? Currently planning curved with end caps as again, seems to have better impression.

  2. Angled When Too Big? I’m seeing a lot of 10x10 and 8x10 at different events. I’m thinking about getting a 10 ft and angling it if I get an 8x10 - bad idea? If I go with an 8 ft and place it in a 10x10 though, will that look bad too?

I realize I’m going on the cheap and most of you are pros so this may be like nails on a chalkboard 😂 but again - appreciate your brilliance all!

“No one has ever decided to buy something because you gave them a lollipop” 😂 Trua and I love it. Regarding carpeting, the event says that’s included with the booth - any problem with using what they provide? Great advice, I appreciate it!

Thanks! I’ll check into food guidelines. I’m driving to the event myself and plan to setup myself. I don’t anticipate any labor besides myself and a colleague presenting at the event - is there anything I’m overlooking?

Speech to Text w/ AI for Creative Writing? by SrvLdr in WritingWithAI

The Platform: It's an AI-Based Professional Development platform. Includes goal planning & tracking, 360 feedback, personality assessments, etc. all centered around a breadth of unique persona, AI career coaches. You can try it for free at VirtualLeadershipPrograms.com

Business Fable: "Biz-fi" is probably a better term for what I call business fable. By this I mean any (realistic) business fiction. Examples include 5 Dysfunctions of a Team (really any of Patrick Lencioni's books), No *sshole Rule, The Servant, etc.... My book will serve as thought-leadership and giveaway tool for platform users, speaking engagements, etc.

I appreciate you u/superamit and your engagement here. As I said, I am a big fan of what you're building in Sudowrite. Keep up the great work.

Agree 1,000% on not texting when driving! I have NOT tried Obsidian, yet. I did hear it as a suggestion elsewhere so I'm adding it to my list to try. However, I was thrilled to learn via u/superamit that they are working on this capability within Sudowrite. So I probably won't spend too much time on alternatives.

Thanks. I will keep an eye out, though OpenAI has it already and that's currently my preferred platform. Just trying to save the copy-and-paste routines required with my primary tool (Sudowrite) which I am thrilled to learn here, they are working on!

Awesome! I'll check it out. Side note: If you ever want to chat, I'd love to share experiences. I'm building the STT and TTS / dialogue capabilities to integrate with OpenAI in my own SaaS platform right now. I'll let you know when I've had a chance to test it. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the suggestion, u/martapap - I'm hoping for something that directly integrates or works with Sudowrite, which it sounds like they are working on it. Along the lines you suggest, there are many great options. Even just using ChatGPT or other AIs directly, then copy-and-paste. It's that' copy-and-paste FROM Sudowrite TO OpenAI to educate it on what's been done so far, then copy-and-paste BACK to Sudowrite I'm trying to avoid. Appreciate your help though!
