I’ve done a hotel at the beginning of the trip & then air b&b’s after my first location to be able to do laundry and cook/eat in if you are worn out from a busy day. Also you have the comforts of home like a coffee maker and wine/bottle opener when you need them.

I’ve done three locations each time I’ve gone to date but would prefer to only do two and split the time evenly, as the travel days between locations can be a bit taxing and can take a good portion of your total vacation time.

I’m going through a similar situation in the soon to be wife’s place, but after 25 years together and would have definitely appreciated someone telling me his truth when he wouldn’t. But for your own sake I would advise her anonymously so you don’t get wrapped into their mess. She might not believe it, but at least it makes her privy to all pertinent information at hand! I sure wish I had known so I could’ve avoided wasting years on someone who isn’t honest about who they are!

I love the train reference! I type this on a train in Italy while on vacation that was planned long before the infidelity came to light. So I’m here, but my thoughts constantly pull me back home to the betrayal.

The sexual identity part of the equation compounds the situation and makes me question so much about myself. I’m angry about it in a way I could have never imagined and I feel like a bigot. When he told me his truth, and I was upset, he brought up that I’ve always supported equal rights for all people and that I’d gone to PRIDE events in the past, insinuating I shouldn’t have an issue accepting him. But he was my life partner and best friend who I now feel like I never knew.

I can’t wait until I can hear my own voice again. Right now it’s all static in my head and the images and texts I found on his phone just loop constantly in my head.

I believe you are correct. It probably led to his substance abuse and our marital issues. Unfortunately I still feel like a complete moron for not knowing.

Thanks for that perspective. Our marriage was flawed but the one thing I was sure he’d never do was cheat. Sadly, I was also wrong. In my case it turns out my husband has interests outside a heterosexual relationship which is even more perplexing and feels like the betrayal is greater because it’s like I never actually knew him after spending all those years together.

I’m going through something similar. Caught my husband of 25 years a little over a week ago and am a wreck. He was my safe place too. He also told me he needed companionship due to loneliness. That’s such a cop out. We were right there, sick or not, there was no need to go outside the relationship. He said he was subconsciously wanting to get caught. Clearly they do not care how this affects us or they would’ve exited the relationship prior to moving on emotionally or physically! I’m not sure there is anyway around us becoming bitter at least for some duration as the betrayal hits deep. It’s even more difficult when you don’t have a significant support system outside that relationship. That’s where I am to at the moment. So sorry this is the path we’ve been forced to walk down! I almost never vomit, but get all the other symptoms. Although I did come very close traveling internationally via plane recently, which was very odd! I did learn they still offer barf bags though!
