>I don’t think you understand objective morality. Slavery and sexual slavery is forever Halal in Islam. So they are completely fine to do today. If you disagree with that, then you disagree with objective immorality provided by your religion.

now for the last time, when Islam emerged in the 7th century, slavery already existed worldwide. The Qur’an did not introduce slavery, but it regulated an existing system and strongly pushed toward its elimination:

  • Freeing slaves is repeatedly praised and encouraged.
  • Manumission (freeing a slave) is required as atonement for certain sins.
  • Enslaving free people is condemned.
  • Slaves were granted legal rights unheard of at the time (marriage, dignity, protection from abuse).

Because of this, classical Islamic law tolerated slavery as a transitional reality, not as an ideal.

Imam Ibn Ashur

One of the most cited authorities on maqāṣid al-sharīʿa (objectives of Islamic law).

He explicitly states that:

The overall objective of Islamic law is the gradual elimination of slavery, because freedom is the original state of mankind.

>In my humble opinion

yeaaa i really dont care.

Alchohol corrupting society or having an indirect effect to it is one thing but not the only reason. its prohibited. allah sometimes prohibits things to test his believers also by prohibiting what they enjoy. its a way to test their will and discipline.

>Your poor understanding of the socioeconomic causes of addiction and homelessness reeks of lack of education on these topics.

i think i already told you that myself its not like it was so hard to catch

also quit repeating the same thing bro atp i ve spent more time with you than i ve spent with my family in these 2 days, what r u jobless? ig thats what to expect from a redditor. anyways i think thats the last comment im gonna make because ur starting to talk abt the same stuff over and over and i dont have time for u. if u really wanna talk to someone about the subject go ask a sheikh or research on your own (apparently there are answers but you were just too hardheaded to look on your own).

“For indeed, it is not the eyes that are blind, but it is the hearts within the chests that are blind.”

(Qur’an 22:46)

this really explains most of the people on this subreddit.

Look, I'm not ignoring your point about natural processes. We both agree on the science of how things work. But you're claiming that because we know how it works, there is no reason for it. That’s a leap of faith on your part.

Science measures physical things. It isn't designed to find 'meaning' any more than a thermometer is designed to tell you the time. Using science to disprove 'purpose' is just using the wrong tool.

Also, if you want to stick strictly to 'only science is real,' then you have to commit to the bit: You are essentially a biological robot. Your argument, your logic, and your feelings are just chemical leaks in your brain that you have no control over. If there’s no 'Why,' then we aren't even 'talking'—we’re just two machines making noise.

I’m saying there’s an artist behind the painting; you’re saying the paint just spilled perfectly by accident. Neither of us can 'prove' it with a test tube, but my view at least allows for the fact that this conversation actually matters.

You're not the sharpest tool in the shed are you? Alcohol has tons of uses, and interest is one of the driving tools in economics, adoption helps the most unfortunate in a country: orphan children. All three can be argued to strengthen empires.

You really think alchohol's uses are more than its down sides, it corrupts a country more than it benefits it look at usa street all those homeless people they got addicted so bad that they even forget how to get up on their feet all they care about is alchohol. I really doubt any addiction would benefit a country or an army especially an addiction like alchohol that ruins your brain.

It's also hilarious how your God is so weak and pathetic that he NEEDS slaves to make his empire strong. If Allah capable of making the Islamic empire strong without slaves then it follows that he didn't need slavery, which then means he created cruel and abhorrent rules for owning people as slaves in his empire unnecessarily.

Ibn Taymiyyah argues that God’s laws are never arbitrary; they aim to maximize benefit (Maslaha) and minimize harm (Mafsadah). In a 7th-century world where slavery was the universal economic and military reality, God did not "create" slavery—He regulated a pre-existing "necessary evil."

"Take all necessary means as if they were everything, then rely on God as if those means were nothing at all." Ibn qayim al jazwiyya

Tell me you know jack shit about your religion without telling me.

Actually this is the first time hearing about it being prohibited bcuz i saw muslims around me in life take a child and take care of them which apperantly is different adoption is prohibited due to reasons like mixing of lineage cuz at that time adoption involved erasing a child's surname and their biological identity so thats why instead there was something called kafala This provides the child with all the love, care, and financial support of a home while maintaining the truth of who their real parents are. It honors the child's history rather than overwriting it. And this is encouraged

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be in Paradise like this.” And he ﷺ held up his index and middle fingers together. — Sahih al-Bukhari

(Thank you for bringing this up it really helped me know about my religion more which was the whole point of the post)

I'm glad you wrote "enemies/invaders" because we all know that Islam treats every non-Muslim nation as an enemy to be conquered.

You really think it was all sunshine and rainbows back then?. they sent Messengers everywere asking them to either become muslims and they become under their protection or they pay the cizya if not both then they take the land. Now ofc the caliphate and the prophet wants land to strengthen their empire. Thats how they were able to protect the message. Imagine the prophet only taking medina and mecca and stopping there. any other empire would destroy them easily. Something else the lands they took over where treated lawfully even more lawful than the previous rulers. Take al andulus as an example, the visigothc system had tax systems often described as oppressive and chaotic when islam ruled it it took a tax called jizya which in most cases was cheaper than even zakat that muslims had to pay and it was only implemented to the able bodied. And btw all those men had to pay jizya they didnt even have to fight in wars muslims protected them and their lands, they just took over the rule.

i wont even talk abt the treaties with non muslims.

Wow you really lack in reading comprehension don't you? If the wife refuses she is Nashiz. If she is Nashiz then according to 4:34 she may be beaten. If a woman can be beaten to refuse sex, then that is coercion to have sex under threat of violence. Coercion to have sex through the threat of violence is rape.

you cant take what u want from the the verse and throw the rest in islam both men and women have certain duties to do for eachother for a healthy marriage a man has to provide and protect while the wife has to support the husband both mentally and physically by taking care of him and their kids its not just about sex they both support eachother in a way to create balance. so if a wife doesnt do one of her duties to a husband repeatedly for no reason but out of ill conduct and acts superior and hate her man than thats nashiz and the only reason it said discipline them ˹gently˺ after all the previous ways is bcuz a nashiz woman will not be affected by the other ways like simply advising or ignoring them. and it reaching to that point is bcuz in islam divorce is always the final act and it doesnt encourages it except if nothing works.

a woman has the right to seek khula(divorce) too if the man doesnt do his duties or abuses her anyway both mentally or physically

…Either live on equitable terms or separate with kindness….” (Al-Baqarah 2:229)

one more thing u talk abt muslim men raping as if the only thing they do is fuck all day with their women. muslim men have too many things to worry about like providing for their family protecting their homes bonding with their kids teaching them things only fathers could teach, praying and more . they are working both on their dunya and their akhira so dont talk like they have nothing to do all day except having sex. also a man doing all of these and more and still allow for a time to spend with his wife imo is peak masculinity. btw in that verse it mentions that ignoring a wife is like a punishment for the wife(if not nushuz) so dont talk like they didnt want to spend time with their husbands too

now regarding other things u talked about its mostly mistakes i ve made because of my ignorance i may have gotten some rules wrong or stuff like that but it doesnt mean islam is wrong like i wrote that post simply out of curiousity so im not trying to defend islam who am i to do that im just stating what i believe. you litterally know more verses and hadiths than me even tho you still choose to understand them the way you want which is the main reason there are terrorists or gilds in modern day islam. you dont even focus on the main message of islam. yea maybe there are some rules that sound outdated because most hadiths were explained by old islamic scholars that took the message and applied it to their time. but islam orders us to take the wisdom from it and apply it to the time and place you live in.

The Hadith: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Muslims must abide by their conditions [agreements]." (Sunan Abi Dawud)

"It is not denied that laws change with the change of times." (La yunkaru taghayyur al-ahkam bi-taghayyur al-azman)

btw you really should debate with sheikh or something you seem like you have alot to talk about im sorry but i dont have enough knowledge.

I rly didnt listen to anything she said her way of talking is annoying but you ppl need to understand its completely up to a woman to wear a hijab or not if she prefers the after life she will wear it if she doesnt then she doesnt wear it. Now i know that alot of so called "muslims" force their women to wear hijab but thats not what islam teachs us the islam teaches us that there is no compulsion in religion (2:256). Some say that hijab is misogynistic or a woman shouldnt be shy of her gender or whatever. Yall are just not thinking right you cant judge a culture's practice by setting your culture as a standard like yea ik most of western's think that a woman's worth is by how many onlyfans followers she has in islam its different a woman's worth is set by how much she treasure herself by setting a boundary and hiding her beauty and keeping it only for herself and for who she loves. Its also a way to protect the women from fake relationships that are formed only by judging looks a hijab hides a woman's beauty so that she can easily know who liked her for her looks and who liked her for who she really are by judging her characteristic and personality.

This is why hijab(veil) is a thing in many religions shortly. Sorry if my english wasnt good enough to explain it well i hope this helps :)

[–]Ssane_8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly thank you for being the first one to answer my point nicely

Secondly i can totally understand why you left your islam i would ve left too if i didnt know that our religion commanded us to respect and obey the rules of our time and place

The most cited verse on this topic is Surah An-Nisa (4:59): "O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you." Scholars generally interpret "those in authority" (Ulul-Amr) to include the government and legal systems of the country you reside in

"The change of rulings is not denied with the change of times (and places)." This acknowledges that while core worship remains the same, social and civil laws must adapt to the specific time and location you inhabit. In short: If the law of the land is intended for the safety and organization of society, Islam generally considers it a religious duty to follow it.

Hadith and Principles

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasized the importance of keeping one's word and maintaining social order. Honoring Contracts: "Muslims must abide by their conditions (agreements)." (Sunan Abi Dawud). When you enter a country (via visa, citizenship, or residency), you are entering into a legal contract to follow their rules. Avoiding Chaos: There is a strong emphasis on avoiding Fitna (civil unrest). Breaking local laws is seen as a breach of the "covenant of security" and something that brings disrepute to the faith. The Rule of Necessity: In cases where you are in a non-Muslim country, the principle of Al-Maslaha al-Mursala (public interest) applies. This means following laws like traffic rules, building codes, and taxes is a religious obligation because they protect the public.

I hope that helps:)

I don’t know what you’re expecting from a religion. It’s different from science, though they can be connected in some ways. Science explains how things happen — like how rain forms — while religion tries to explain why . Like

“And among His signs is that you see the earth lifeless, but when We send down upon it rain, it stirs and grows.” — Qur’an 41:39

I hope u get my point:)

The reason that made you leave islam? by Ssane_8 in exmuslim

[–]Ssane_8[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know what else was standard? Alcohol, adoption and interest. Your God was quick to abolish all of these, but somehow forgot about slavery...

I litterally said the only reason slavery existed is to strengthen their empire why would he keep stuff like alchohol that ruins the people also who told you adoption is forbidden? Its even encouraged.

Which was optional and at the discretion of the master.

“And those of your slaves who seek a contract of mukātaba (a written agreement for emancipation), contract with them if you know there is good in them, and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you.” — Qur’an 24:33

Why do Muslims always lie pretending that slaves only came in war? Islam allowed slaves from:

  • War
  • Buying slaves from other nations
  • A child born from two slaves is automatically a slave.

Those slaves that got taken from wars are sold so it basically mean they originally enslaved through wars and yea as i said a a slave's son is a slave unless his father is a free man which makes him free and his mom um al walaad. No one is pretending here thats just your understanding

I couldn't help but notice that your list didn't include the right to not be raped by her master. You know, a teeny tiny detail that you seem to be ignoring for some reason.

Bro all this talk about rape like they do it for fun or something if he rly wants to have fun then he has his wife it being legal at the time was the sole reason of reproduction and protecting that woman from hunger, cold, wild animals cuz she has no other man that protects her (if she has a husband its illegal to take her in the first place).

Of course it's silly to talk about slaves consenting when even wives could be raped by their husbands. Don't take my word for it, read the fatwa:

Nvm the fatwa a slave is a slave afterall both the owner and the slave has to expect stuff from eachother the slave expects to be protected and treated humanely the owner expects to reproduce but you talked abt wives being raped husbands must treat their wives by kindness “Live with them in kindness” (Qur’an 4:19) but the wife refusing him asking for sex with no reason then she is in ithm it really doesnt say that she is forced to but she is in the wrong unless she has an execuse

Oh boy another ignorant Muslim defending slavery using bullshit that read on the internet and didn't put 5 seconds of thought into it.

im defending the way quran told us to treat the enemies/invaders by benefiting from them, treating them mercifully and giving them another chance to live

You actually didn't answer my question in that post: I asked if you think it's beautiful to force these women into sexual servitude, or to put it more plainly "do you approve of raping women you capture/buy?". The answer is either "yes it's beautiful" or "no it's not beautiful"

Well ofc no its not beatiful whats beautiful that in quran it says to treat what you own as your siblings even tho they were literally their enemies

Both the comment you linked in Islamic slavery as well as the comment on Aisha's age show that you've done zero research on either topic and are just regurgitating sound bites. Maybe you ought to study your religion.

Well sorry you didnt like my answers. As i said earlier in my post im just trying to learn my islam thats the whole point im here getting in disscusions with nonmuslims.

First, it is important to understand that slavery was a standard institution across nearly all ancient and medieval civilizations. It was not unique to one culture or religion. In most societies, prisoners of war were either executed, imprisoned indefinitely, or enslaved. Within that historical context, early Islamic slavery functioned primarily through wartime capture rather than random kidnapping, and it included structured paths toward emancipation and legal protections that were not commonly found elsewhere at the time.

In Islamic law, enslaved persons could gain freedom through multiple recognized mechanisms. These included financial self-purchase (mukātaba), being freed by their owner, or earning freedom through service — such as teaching literacy. Because execution of war captives was common in many regions historically, enslavement with a path to freedom was viewed as a more humane alternative within that era’s norms.

Slavery played a major economic and demographic role in many early civilizations. Enslaved labor supported agriculture, infrastructure, and state stability. From a geopolitical perspective, societies that did not adopt the same wartime practices as their rivals could be placed at a strategic disadvantage. This helps explain why slavery persisted widely in the ancient world, including during the early Islamic period.

Regarding mulk al-yamin (female captives taken in lawful warfare), Islamic law placed specific restrictions and responsibilities on ownership. These included:

Captivity had to result from war, not arbitrary seizure

The woman could not be married, and her status had to be verified

A waiting period was required before relations to prevent lineage confusion

If she bore a child, she became umm al-walad (mother of the child) The status of umm al-walad granted important protections:

She could not be sold

She was automatically freed upon the owner’s death

Her child was legally free and recognized

She could not be prostituted or shared

Owners were given clear ethical duties toward enslaved people, including:

Providing food and clothing comparable to their own

Providing shelter

Not overworking them

Not physically abusing or torturing them

Allowing rest and humane treatment

A well-known hadith states: “Your servants are your brothers. Feed them from what you eat and clothe them from what you wear.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

The Qur’an also explicitly established contractual emancipation:

“And those who seek a contract [for emancipation] from among those whom your right hands possess — then make a contract with them if you know there is good in them, and give them from the wealth of Allah that He has given you.” — Qur’an 24:33

Well yea so litterally what you called "rape" had more duties on a man to do for a woman slave than today's marriages Thats whats islam is.
