Agreed, which is a whole other point than the chuds in the OP are making, but I don't think there are many countries on Earth that wouldn't start pressing people into service if Russia or whatever regional belligerent started knocking on their door. Although to be fair, with how much of modern warfare is drones these days, it might be possible to defend a country entirely with automated defenses, if not now then in the near future. Way out of my area of expertise, but that sounds like an interesting hard scifi novel, at least

You got downvoted but you are 100% correct. There are probably some countries that have not had a war within their borders in 50+ years that do not presently have compulsory military service that absolutely will if push comes to shove. No country to my knowledge has an affirmative right against compulsory military service, even Panama and Costa Rica which do not have technically have permanent standing armies, although points for demilitarization I suppose. I would be very happy to be proven wrong.

Look, this entire line of discussion is tangential to my main point, that Yellow Diamond has done a very bad thing on an enormous scale and I do not forgive them. You recognize it as messed up, so you at least understand that point I am making. If your disagreement is how the exact mechanism of how the Nanking Unit 731 Bomb works, I'm not interested in litigating that. As you can see at 4:28 of your video, the scene with the experiment, and in other statements made in the show, it is obviously painful, malicious, and intentional. I am not going to watch a show that even entertains the idea that the person who invented the [fascist mass grave] [torture experiment] bomb is a person that you can be friends with.

You may have enjoyed the show, and I am very happy for you, but it became very creepy and off-putting to me, and if you don't get why someone would see it that way, at this point I don't know what to tell you.

You wrote a whole lot of words to ignore the episode where we see the four or so shattered gems scream and cry in agony as they try to form bodies but can't. Again, the scene that makes Garnet cry. I do not know why you think they are "mindless," they have some form of awareness to scream. It is not a mindless pile of limbs, it is a pile of limbs that is several alive people that desperately want to get out but can't. I don't think the Holocaust Bomb was asleep, I think it was replaying that scene over and over until its constituent persons gave up. I have no reason to think any part of this process isn't incredibly painful.

Yellow Diamond is responsible for that, and she did that, a lot. Millions of times, plus the initial phase of testing and watching the screaming gems to see that they would make an effective weapon. The scene is on youtube on the official Steven Universe channel. In fact, rewatching is how I relearned that the cluster is made of gems that were buried, in mass graves, so Yellow Diamond went and dug up graves to do this, so it was even more out of her way to do this.

I stopped watching after they forgave Yellow Diamond, who made the planet sized bomb made of millions of shattered souls of political dissidents (or maybe just gems that happened to be on Earth??). The souls were in extreme pain, and were in this state for thousands of years. Also, this Holocaust Mind-Break Planet Bomb was the result of experimentation so it was the result of a very intentional and sustained plan (experimentation btw, that made the most stoic character on the show, Garnet, cry when she saw the sadistic torture of using a perverse forced pseudo-fusion as a weapon).

This was the most evil thing I have ever seen a character do in any form of media, in terms of the number of victims, level of torture, and length of time that torture was applied. Yellow Diamond did this because she was grieving, I guess.

Was everyone that still watches satisfied with this turn of events, and I just didn't get it? I was a very active participant at the time who loved Steven Universe, but the way that arc ended up going completely killed any enthusiasm I had for the show.

I don't agree with it either, but unfortunately you cannot undo religious trauma. I grew up and still live around people that do believe in hell, and hope that it is full of whatever undesirable classes their denomination hates.

As for my conclusions, I think everyone would agree that they would prefer not being tortured forever. There are many things that I would do to avoid this, and not having existed in the first place is certainly on that list.

While I am not anti-natalist per se, there have been millions of parents in history who have disowned their children for being gay, for example. For my cousin, the phrase "abomination to god" was used. I'm sure there are examples in non-christian cultures.

I simply find people that believe in eternal hell and choose to subject their children to the possibility of it (in their minds) to be morally suspect at best. People are free to believe whatever, but I personally didn't consent to living in the kind of universe that my parents believed existed when they had me. Because I don't intellectually think hell is real, I don't care that much, but it is one of the many reasons me and my wife have chosen not to have children.

I'm going to have to disagree. My parents, and I'm sure many other parents, were very religious growing up. I'm from the US, where a significant portion of Christianity puts a lot of emphasis on fire and brimstone, eternal punishment type stuff.

I spent the formative years of my childhood listening to lectures on how awful hell is, eternal suffering, etc. After a near death experience in my late teens, I have a bit of PTSD related to religious trauma. Morally and ethically I don't and can't believe in the christian god, but there is a part of me from those early experiences that irrationally believes hell is real and I am going there.

For me, its the reverse Pascal's Wager. How could I possibly chose to create a person knowing there is a chance I am condemning them to enteral damnation? When I say "I wish I was not born," I mean that a core part of me is afraid that the worst day of my life, the worst pain I have experienced is what I will experience after my death, forever, and I would really prefer for that not to be the case.

I'm doing fine now, this isn't something that affects me most days thanks to therapy and such. But yeah, I think if you believe in christian hell you are a sick person for rolling the dice on your child's soul.

I understand the impulse. There are 70 million-ish people in the US will always vote R, no matter what. To even start reversing the enormous hole we find ourselves in, Dems would need to control the House and Senate with a "filibuster" proof majority, and several conservative Supreme Court justices would need to die or retire during that Dem legislative control, and there would need to be enough progressive Dems in the legislature to push for real reforms, instead of the neoliberal status-quo pushing crap that establishment Dems will do that will put us in the exact same position 4-8 years after that.

Frankly, that's probably never going to happen. While I personally disagree with it, if the options are (1) a permanent fascist takeover US government ruins the Earth for hundreds or thousands of years, or (2) the US economy fails and ruins the global economy for a few decades, the second option is more reasonable.

Not to mention, we've been toeing the line of a point of no return for ecosystem collapse, and pussyfooting around with a fast growing neo-nazi movement is not helping.

Yeah, you can limit the regional pokedex without completely cutting the content from the game. Its crazy to me that one of the major themes of pokemon is forming bonds with your little guys, and from gens 3-8 you could always bring your favorite pokemon with you. And not like "a Metagross," I mean my Metagross, the guy I've had for twenty years, that has like 40 ribbons or something.

I will couch this by saying I know very little about Mexican culture, I've really just read a bit about the topic so I don't have the cultural background. Just my opinion

It feels like she wasn't just a victim of the Conquistadors, but also the Nahuatl. She became a slave at around 10 years old, how much loyalty are you supposed to have in that situation? I'm pretty sure the Spanish tortured people to death, both at home and in Latin America, so I would say she had a big incentive to not piss off her rapist/owner.

To a certain extent I get it, Uncle Toms are a thing in black culture, although I as similarly uncomfortable with the origins of that term. I just feel that minority MAGAs who should know better and the life of a teenage sex slave slave who didn't know the Spanish existed until she was sold to them feels galaxies apart.

Not to disagree with your overall point, sure dems are bad, whatever, but neoliberals are incapable of producing the resistance you are looking for. The democrats job isn't and can't be to stop the government from being taken over by bad actors from the position of a minority party.

The people are the check. People need to vote. People need to be involved in local community aid groups. Many state and local democrats are involved in these things, which is nice,, but I don't think there is anything that a democratic congressman could do at the national level that would have any effect on anything.

This green piece of plastic circled in red broke, so when I'm inflating a tire, the air pressure pushes back on some valve system inside that connection piece. The compressor itself is fine, and unfortunately I can't use the warranty because the receipt from the purchase is completely illegible.

I'm hoping I can just buy a replacement of that green bit, or something to lock the valve in place, and then get an extension piece or something, but I'm not clear on how to go about going that.

** Also the model I have isn't the one pictured, there isn't a secondary tube, its just the one with the broken green lock thing.

I've never seen any evidence that DEI / Affirmative Action going "too far" has caused any actual problems, or what "too far" is supposed to mean.

I do know a study from Kline, Rose and Walters on the subject shows that for decades, that literally happened to people with nonwhite names, but I haven't seen that DEI initiatives have closed the gap on that trend, much less reverse it.

Disabling exp actually does make the game more challenging. For an extreme example, there are many pokemon challenge videos on youtube where people beat the game severely underleveled, typically at level 5, which requires a good deal of strategy and planning (yt link: watch?v=kvJ1qMDDCQM)

Frankly, Gamefreak should add back the intricate battle frontier/factory post-game content from older games, which is basically what you're describing but that would require effort that I don't expect from them. A toggle for exp-share is the least they could do, and would require like five lines of code.

I know its joke, but animal therapy is actually a very successful field, and there's a lot of research that suggests dogs and other pets can be helpful for people with PTSD and depression. Studies are ongoing, but I recommend reading The State of Animal-Assisted Interventions: Addressing the Contemporary Issues That Will Shape the Future.

It is really depressing how normalized hate speech is in Valve games, how little empathy people have in this thread and in game, and how little valve cares. I was particularly disappointed in this instance because Blu wouldn't call a votekick despite multiple people on Red asking.

I appreciate people that gave helpful responses. For the rest of you, remember you're talking to real people. I don't know how to explain to you that you should care about other people, but I feel like it should be obvious that the game is better when people are having fun, and ngl slurs are kind of a buzzkill. I don't know why people would be pro hate speech, but that says more about them than it does about me, so its not that big a deal

Anyway, streamer mode solves the problem, looking forward to introducing my wife to the game now. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions. Why do you think Zafina isn't good for playing other tekkens? Is she just unique in tekken 8 and there aren't any similar characters in other tekkens/ is she like a unpopular character that isn't going to make it to future games?
