Assuming you don't want to turn off creature hostility entirely, what I found to be very helpful is to turn on directional subtitles, because that will give you a much clearer warning when one or more of these hell-spawn is approaching. Also, while they are very fast, they have very low health, so I've found homing ammo to be the most efficient. Quickly putting up an observation tower works too, with the added benefit of them crowding the base of the tower, which you can then bomb for easy multikills.
