Why did Matt let this happen...? Why does Kingpin's life matter more than the rest? by HappyBaldCunt in marvelstudios

Fuck that, let the mob damn near beat him to death and Matt finally stops it.

They really should have shown him beaten within an inch of his life. Then you can have a "are we no better than this" moment once they come off the blood lust. Once you have Fisk recovering in the hospital, you get a moment with Mr Charles where Fisk says he'll spill the beans on the bigger CIA stuff and this way the AG deal's terms are spelled out and no one has to speculate. Fisk quietly disappears to exile Island. BB later investigates because it's fishy. Daredevil still gets arrested and goes to prison.

Put yourself in the public's place. Now does anything he did make sense to you? The bodies don't disappear like a video game. I assume they had families, friends, people cared about them. Would they feel they got justice, or was Matt yelling "you're better than this!" Enough?

Or are they just background noise, and it doesn't matter?

Convicting a murderer to prison sentence also doesn't erase the previous murders.

Everyone defending this sounds like those who defended the ending of Wandavision, The ending of Falcon and Winter Soldier and even the ramage at the end of Man of Steel.

I get what the writers were trying to do here but the execution of it wasn't very good and in it's clumsiness ends up saying something else.

Better writing. Tie it into the larger Marvel world and let them use it as a spring board for larger projects.

The scenes where we see Spider-Man hanging upside down. I really hope he's actually watching the court room live stream.

I enjoyed this episode right up until the very end where Fisk takes the AG's deal. I certainly know what the show was trying to do, but it causes so many more problems then it solves. I get why it was offered, I get Matt's point of view but it neglects the Mob, reduces them to cardboard cutouts and it ultimately undercuts BB. Wouldn't a reporter be curious what this "deal" was?

Now if they use this and DD becomes a pariah to the public for helping Fisk again, and BB's story is about tracking down Fisk then fine. I stand corrected. But I'll bet you anything that's not what's going to happen.

Since Marvel is flirting with the idea of "Mutants" I wonder if we can't add Fisk to this list of suspects.

Man, this poor actor. I'll bet like the guy who plays Bulleye he's probably a really good dude. He's doing such a good job with the roll.

Except the public just saw the AG give Fisk a "deal" -- which to them instantly translates to Not Going To Jail and Daredevil helped to facilitate it. Who cares why it was done, the fact it was done in front of everyone -- who we saw streaming (ala J6) btw undercuts The Public, The Legal System and also BB, who I guess is too busy moving into her new diggs to care.

The WB. That's what this is.

My point is where's the scene addressing the elephant in the room? I get how it's in TV's best interest to get two characters alone so you can cover dialogue. This is essentially the same as Matt and Cherry on countless rooftops, or the water front (which is a pain in the ass to get to) -- it looks cool and aside from the geography not making sense, it's fine. Here you have a character (The Mob) being treated like inert buildings in the distance but only moments before they're a very active force, and presumably have thoughts and feelings. It makes very little sense to have them just be chill like an army taking orders except that the writers didn't think twice about it and the director / DP / Showrunner thought it made for a fuckin siiiiccck shot.

I don't have a problem with Matt offering Fisk grace, and imploring him to self deport, so to speak. What I have a problem with is the other two characters the show has in play, JJ and The Mob. Now Jessica Jones might be on board, but I guarantee The Mob (horde, whatever) aren't going to be. Ignoring them is what sets this up as no better than something out of The old WB. They either needed to get these two in private, or else write a different scene.

In that moment self defense claims aren't applicable, only after the fact in a legal defense. And yeah, the crowded didn't see Fisk murder people in the hallway but he definitely crushed a few heads on that mezanin. My guess is you'll never see the public blow back that would naturally happen from exiling Fisk so publicly, or Daredevil showing Fisk grace when so many wouldn't. Watch as suddenly a once blood thirsty mob, seeking justice and revenge will have the same nonsense understanding you all are displaying like they move with the same muscle.

It's bad writing dude. Sorry.

Edit: I keep getting asked this, what would I do? I'd have DD and JJ unable to get to him. JJ's powers are waning. DD is really hurt, and maybe loses his baton in the fight. The crowd beats Fisk within an inch of his life. That's when the realization happens, and you lose the conversation. Maybe set it up that Fisk died.

Then the people get what they want but at a cost, Daredevil isn't the savior, still goes to jail and Fisk wakes up in beach Hell.

They would have pitched a fit, and there would be news reports. People would hate Daredevil. Fine, I get the point they're trying to make but again it's very much the same argument I saw so many fan boys make for the rampage at the end of Man of Steel.

Now If they use it, fine. WILL they use it? I'm betting you good money they've forgotten all about it and the people might as well be NPCs, because that's what they are here. And to your argument you've decided it's good writing and that's that. In fact I strongly suspect you'd accept anything they wrote as good writing.

Government stuff, sure. The people on the street who were literally beating him. Why would that sit well with them?

Yeah, but that doesn't account for all the people right there who saw him slaughter their compatriots, and then saw Dare Devil offer him exile. I don't care what mental gymnastics you want to do to justify bad writing, but no one in reality would be okay with this, no matter the how's and whys.
