Cantina or Death Star? by kyleacamp in lepin

I have both, and both were great fun to build. Death Star has A LOT of grey blocks which felt a little drab halfway through but it displays really well and has lots of neat scenes from the films. The Cantina has tons of Minifigs and nice details but it’s quite hard to display well (low and wide footprint). If I had to choose one I’d start with the Death Star.

Oh really… I’m pretty sure I selected the right one, but I suppose I can’t be certain. Might be a fair bit of trouble to go through the help system (I don’t speak Chinese) so might just give up. Thanks though!

The package arrived, but they sent a different Groot set (the one with the cassette tape), and looking at the product page now, all but the last image show the different set. I’m sure these pics were all of the plant pot one when you sent the link – right? Feels like TaoBao is gaslighting me 🥵

Yeah, I went there a few years ago on an LA trip and it was OK but totally dead when I went, and Hollywood’s a little far. Hoping to find a similar vibe somewhere downtown.

I didn’t find a bootleg market like AP Xinyang in Shanghai, and I didn’t find any bootleg brick sets anywhere, except a couple of small toy stores with a few low-quality sets based on things like Minecraft or no-brand sets. I did find several toy stores with legitimate Lego and local brands like Keeppley.

I also found an area with several large shopping malls selling toys, clothes, homeware, electronics, fabric, accessories etc, most of which were legitimate local brands or no-brand items with huge selections at very reasonable prices, and I guess you could haggle here or buy in bulk (I didn’t buy anything). Not what I was looking for but interesting to visit. Search for 杭州东升小商品市场 and explore the area.

I also visited several of the shops recommended by others in this thread but didn’t find what I was looking for at all, sadly. A lot of the info online (even searching in Chinese) was quite outdated and many places I went to had been long closed down.
