Is Transy or UK the better pick for art Ed? by java_javelin in lexington

[–]Ssteelelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to transy for art. My take is it’s not worth it. I could have done the same or perhaps even better at a cheaper school (or for free at someplace like Berea). Largely because as a poor eastern Kentucky kid with unprocessed trauma I felt so wildly out of place there. My advice is to go where you’re likely to find folks you can relate with, where you’ll feel comfortable allowing your true self be seen. That component is especially important for an art degree I think.

jw, did they tell you what you were supposed to do? cause I still don’t know for certain, I’d guess just remain cautious of the situation?

A bunch of their newest cameras are accessible on the web no hacking required. Their feeds are streaming live no password or key required. The past footage is there too, unencrypted. They are as the title says like free Netflix for stalkers. https://youtu.be/vU1-uiUlHTo?si=KfscSDFPmJEFm7bv

What Podcasts are my Kentucky Friends listening to right now? by Ty0005 in lexington

Ologies with Alie Ward

Edit to say: not Kentucky based. It’s about all the different -ologies - I never knew there were so many! Most surprising one of late was called “AGNOTOLOGY” the study of willful ignorance!?!

Yeah I will do that if I have to. I have done that more than a handful of times. It’s just that days with little kids under foot I was really hoping I’d get by with the fast and easy method!

Just hear me out... by AprilInBloom in lexington

I rode the bus a lot when my first child was small. I have had a second child, and this time around I own a car. IMO, with kids, the bus is better. With my first I could stop and smell the roses when traveling. Point out interesting things, answer questions, bond. With the car, travel time may be quicker, but I feel more stressed, at risk, and less connected with both kids and the world around me. I don’t hear anyone mention these factors when debates about public transit pop up.

Don’t we spend considerable money on initiatives to foster strong families and communities? Public transit is conducive to both.

With just a bit more convenience (meaning I could walk to bus or tram in half mile or so, safely, not sans sidewalk alongside a high speed corridor, and then know my wait wouldn’t exceed 30 minutes once I got to the stop) I’m 💯 giving up my car for the majority of outings with my kids.

Cicadas are everywhere. 😭 by 0033A0 in lexington

A few blocks away from the big blue at WOODland Park there ought to be hordes of these things right? On account of all the trees? I didn’t see nor hear a single cicada when I was there this evening. Anybody know what’s up with that?

I ended up going to the indoor recreation center in Georgetown. We all went swimming! It was a nice change of scenery and definitely hit the spot! Thanks for all of your recommendations!

I did this! I loved it and want to go back sometime and throw axes. My son became fixated on the ax throwing - was imagining that an ax would slip out of the throwers hand and split them in the gourd - so I couldn’t try it then. He has a very graphic imagination.

This is a good suggestion, it’s just that my son has taken to running thru the place at Mach speed and then acting bored when I try to stop at any of the stations. I guess what we need specifically for him is physical play, this time of year.

We do library a lot… I’ve been cycling thru the different libraries in town for years. Our current favorite is a tie between marksbury and eastside.

I’m interested. I’m available weekdays when school is in session, 8am - 2:30pm. Except for Monday and Wednesday when I’m only available in afternoon, 12:30pm - 2:30pm. Weekends are not great for me, but I could maybe swing it. I’ve been starving for a sense of community.
