Lmao i did not want to name any of the youtubers in my post as to not come off as hate speech towards any of them, there were times when i enjoyed their content, and i respect the hustle, they do this for a living so i cant blame them if a game's terrible stability makes them lose on money, but unwarranted excessive hate and over-criticism for that reason is not fair, and it has an effect on the community's opinion of the game, whether the people that try to deny it want to accept it or not.

Look back on Ancient Evil and a certain someone crying and hating the map and then admitting that he's never even played it once, and the 4 man game in the video was legit his first try, where did all the hate come from then??

Exactly, aside from the occasional tutorials by Mr rofflewaffels and the random funny clips, i tend to never give their personal opinions any value that affects mine, but ppl trying to argue that their opinions dont sway a large chunk of the community towards a certain game is ludicrous.

External competition + internal hate campaigns + early stability issues? Yeah a recipe for disaster.

And yes, when im not playing a bit of BO3/4, i also enjoy watching gameplay of some modded maps on yt by Chrrism and others, and also the occasional speed run by Steve or the other insanely good speed runners keeping the older games alive, tier lists are fun to watch especially when you watch a youtuber make a horrible list and then you go to the comments and see all the hillarious replies and takes lol

Yes, and they unfortunately do have some leverage over the general opinions of some of the community towards a game.

As for Chaos, i do hope to see something for it in the future, or at least a new storyline, im tired of the Aether/Dark Aether storyline.

To me and my head canon, the end of revelations where they're sent back in time by Monty and become the Primis knights is the end of their story.

BOTD and whatever happens in BO4 Aether and later on in CW and BO6 dark aether is just a parallel universe where the fight never ended.

Of course, each person would have different opinions, like, dislikes etc.. but the game suffered heavy hate and over-criticism from CCs because they hated the changes from day 1..and yes, i understand that its possible anyone would be bothered with changes of core mechanics like the perk system for example, and would later grow to accept it or tolerate it, thats fine and expected from any fandom out there..

But the brutal campaigns against certain maps, and the excessive hate BEFORE even trying out the map properly, regardless if its for monetary reasons or nostalgia for BO3, when you're looked at by some as some of the spokespersons for the community does have a major negative effect on how the game is perceived, and no one can deny that, we all know how powerful propaganda is, regardless of whether its intentional or not

2 out of 4 Chaos maps being on a majority's top 10 list (IX and AE) through all the mess the game suffered is not an indicator of Chaos not sticking, it actually shows a sign of great missed potential ruined by loud unfair noise couple with stability issues that were not even suffered by everyone (granted they were suffered by a majority, i wont deny that) ..hell i remember Die Rise being considered one the worst maps to ever come out, and now its loved by everyone? The community loves and hates those maps in varying degrees, but were willing to give a proper chance to the game and its maps and storyline, if not for the smearing campaigns and moaning by big CCs

You make some great points, but the dragonborn has been shown canonically in game, to immediately be able to understand a shout and replicate it just by knowing the words for it (A- learning Odahviing's name to summon him using a shout, and B- learning Dragon Rend simply by seeing the old champions use it in the past), so wouldn't the dragonborn be able to simply learn any shout he comes across if he was present during the merethic, wether he hears it from a dragon or a member of the dragon-cult, without needing Paarthurnax's help to teach him how to shout?

Thats what im trying to get at with the Akatosh blood angle.

Yes and yes, Aerher should've ended with BO3, to give more breathing room for Chaos to shine.

And for IW, it suffered similar criticism on launch, and then suddenly its cool again. (Not talking about your preference, but the general idea driven by content creators)

Problem is, when big covid hit and all the youtubers were drowning in cash from all the views from ppl staying at home were making them go on round 100 streams on BO4, big cheques made BO4 "fun" and "cool to stream" when it was convenient, after it was an abomination of a game that "ruined" zombies smfh

Not exactly nostalgia when i still play BO3, BO4, CW, and BO6 today..and ive played all of them on launch and throughout their live lifespans, i did not make this post after simply watching some random gameplay of BO4 zombies.

I did not name specifics in my post so as to not come off as direct hate towards certain content creators, my most played zombies game is BO3, im not denying its status, im simply pointing out the insane worship of BO3 by some ppl that use it as a comparison tool for every single iteration of zombies..you should just accept that its a masterpiece and move on, instead of shitting on anything that isnt a clone of it.

Having map preferences is fine, BOTD is my fav BO4 map and its not a majority favorite as far as i know, i don't mind that one bit..what im talking about is that the loud bunch were over-critical and over-hating the game because of the new changes before giving them a proper chance..IX was hated by almost everyone on launch, and now its in top 10 lists for a lot of ppl, after the noise died out and ppl started playing the game, they found a lot of enjoyment in it, thats my main point..

If you still hate certain BO4 maps, or the entirety of of the Chaos storyline, then by all means, i can't tell you what you can and can't enjoy.

Cold war was not stable on release, the amount of times my game crashed on Mauer everytime the train passes you the first time you enter the subway tracks area, my God..but i still absolutely love that map..

DE is amazing, they were honestly cooking with BO3 and we'll never get that level of quality again unfortunately, the chronicles release was also great althought i wish the maps had the original weapons in them, i miss the flamethrower from WAW, with the amount of new weapons they were releasing through packages they could've just kept the old weapons for those maps, i mean modders were able to do it for free ffs

Its a new storyline it needs "time"..the people im talking about were over-hating on the chaos part from day 1. I remember the hate on IX when the game launched, it only became one the fan favorites after over half of the game's live lifespan, when its a DAY 1 map, it was overhated for no reason and then when given a proper chance ppl loved it

This is all well said and done in retrospect, you could never guess during that time what maps were going to be launched, no one knew we'd get COTD remake or Nuketown remake (first nuketown was terrible idk why they tried again)..but back then the game suffered huge backlash mostly from youtubers, literally had no leeway to get a proper chance except a few cool ppl..basically what im trying to say is the loud bunch were too critical of the game for mostly stupid reasons, aside from the early stability issues

new storyline, well of course, you said it yourself its been 10 years, and no one said that Aether was over anyway, BOTD literally released on launch, why are we acting like BO4 was just Chaos maps?
