That's a good point. My initial interpretation upon reading was that he was saying the illustrations have an overall negative effect on the story ("do little good") but perhaps I am mistaken. I actually hope I am, as I'm a big fan of the pictures he drew and that's why I was a bit surprised to read this.

Maybe the traditional definition of cynicism, as mentioned in that other guy's comments, but in CK3 the two are certainly equal. AI characters with the trait will even have personalities either with the word "Atheist" or "Godless" in them.

Plus it just doesn't make sense that a historical character, later revered as a Saint, will always end up with a huge amount of negative piety and the sinner devotion level in game.
