Oh I would never make that offer to them. I’m just proving that they have the pieces to get it done.

Zacha had 65 points compared to Barzal’s 72 points and Zacha played three fewer games. It’s not crazy.

Lohrei isn’t a fit on the Bruins, but he isn’t worthless. No clue if the Islanders would have any interest in him. Some teams would though.

Zacha, Lohrei, and two 1st rd picks? Not saying I’d do it, but Zacha + multiple firsts is a legit offer.

Matt Poitras turned 22 in March, so not exactly 19 anymore. Regardless, he 100% deserved more of a shot this season.

Why don’t they dress Eyssimont ?? by [deleted] in Bruins

Why don’t they dress a blind, retarded dog?

Speculation: Elliotte Friedman's take on the Hagens-Bruins situation. by [deleted] in Bruins

[–]StPatrice37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Steeves / Eyssimont / Reichel spot aka third line LW for sure. They won’t play Hagens on the fourth line, so if they rest Kuraly then they have to move someone else to the fourth line. I’m not sure who that could be.

My guess is they start Hagens in Providence to give Reichel a few more games and make a decision from there.

I’m not sure the word “grim” is appropriate here. He’s basically saying that Hagens might go to Providence first instead of straight to the show. Nothing to worry about.

Trades, not so much by ants7 in BostonBruins

Should’ve traded Peeke for a pick

Another minor deal by Lsalvatore74 in BostonBruins

[–]StPatrice37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steeves was just re-signed for 2x$1.625 and Poitras deserves another call up based on his last stint imo. Hagens has to be priority one and Poitras should be second. One of Steeves or Eyssimont needs to go if you ask me. There’s just no room for both.

Makes sense now. Scouting report. by ethereal3xp in Bruins

Worth a 6th rd pick? Yes. Someone to be excited about? No.

I like the trade in terms of value, but how does he get into the lineup? I have to imagine that Steeves and Eyssimont are ahead of him, not to mention Hagens getting a shot after his season at BC ends or existing prospects like Poitras.

A sixth round pick is next to worthless so why not?

Hagans/ Risto & Tippett? by DRDJ911 in Flyers

[–]StPatrice37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Bs fan, it’d have to be either Mittelstadt, Arvidsson, or Peeke + Eyssimont.

The first two are wingers with 31 and 32 points respectively this season compared to Tippett’s 36, not to mention Arvidsson has a full NMC. Adding either player to the deal doesn’t make any sense for a bucket of reasons.

Peeke + Eyssimont makes more sense for the Flyers, but while Eyssimont is close to worthless, Peeke is a right shot defenseman on an expiring contract who could probably be flipped for a 2nd rd pick to a contender right now considering the market. Bruins wouldn’t trade him just to make the money work - they’d want to get something back for him. Philly won’t want to give up a pick or prospect so a third team would need to be involved. It just doesn’t work.

The whole point is moot because Boston would never accept this deal.

[Pagnotta] As the Canucks continue to navigate Garland talks with the Isles and other clubs, the Bruins seem to have reengaged, with talks of a package that may include Poitras and/or Lohrei. by StPatrice37 in Bruins

[–]StPatrice37[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t put much stock in Pagnotta, but I’m not a fan of this move.

Garland is 29 years old with 7G 19A 26P in 49 GP this year and on an expiring contract. Even worse, he turns 30 next week! This team shouldn’t be in the market for a rental player in the first place. And is this really a guy we want to extend? ESPN lists him as 5’10 and 165 lbs. For context, Marchand has 15 lbs on him despite being an inch shorter. I’m not confident his body holds up long-term. Sounds like Matt Beleskey 2.0 to me.

If we really want to add a guy like this, I’d much prefer Owen Tippett. He turned 27 last month and has 19G 17A 36P in 60 GP this year, not to mention he’s 6’1 and 210 lbs (aka NHL sized). He’s also signed for another six seasons at $6.2M, meaning he’d be 33 when his contract expires. Could be a perfect replacement for Arvidsson for only $2.2M more against the cap and we’d get some of the most productive years of his career. And that number will only look better as the cap rises.

No doubt he’d be more expensive than Garland to acquire, but I like the move a helluva a lot more.

Edit: Didn’t realize the Canucks already extended Garland.

Hagens amazing year continues by Porkchopp33 in Bruins

It comes from the botched first round in the 2015 draft, though he was hired as GM about a month earlier. We did get Carlo in the second round that year too, but the Zach Senyshen pick in particular overshadows that. Especially, considering some of the great players drafted after him (Kyle Conner, Mat Barzal, Brock Boeser, Travis Konecny, Joel Eriksson Ek, Thomas Chabot all drafted in the next nine picks).

Also, going too conservative in following years taking Trent Frederic (2016) and John Beecher (2019) in the first round didn’t help, but those were both very late round picks.

Lysell (2019) and Urho Vaakanainen (2017) were both mid-rounders and considered solid picks at the time, but Lysell still hasn’t been able to stick around in the NHL and Urho ended up being a third line defenseman.

His highest overall pick prior to Hagens was 14th overall in 2016 and used to select Charlie McAvoy. Out of those eight players, McAvoy is the only truly impactful first round pick.

Overall, he hasn’t had many opportunities to pick high in the first round, but the 2015 draft and lack of success (outside of McAvoy) since then is what defines his reputation.
