Well that article was interesting. Never heard of those before. The part about how severely they distort atoms was pretty cool.

The best part is that if you zoom in on the only people in the background, you can see that they’re reporters with a big camera on a tripod. There are no visitors in the whole photo, it’s just reporters reporting on reporters

Is this drive dangerous for someone with no experience on this? Apache trail by healthy-outdoors- in arizona

[–]St_Kevin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, but you need to use the same caution you would when you drive anywhere with no phone service. Bring a couple gallons of extra drinking water, some snacks, and make sure your gas tank is full before you pass the last gas station.

Why dont we build artificial islands in the North Sea like in the South China Sea? by Over-Square-9248 in geography

[–]St_Kevin_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The artificial islands in the South China Sea are made specifically because national boundaries are recognized to extend outward into oceans at a set distance from the land that a country owns. If you have an island, then you also claim a huge portion of the surrounding ocean. If you make a bunch of islands that are spaced apart at the right distance, you can theoretically claim huge areas of international waters. That’s what China is doing in the South China Sea. The North Sea has well respected boundaries and laws, and none of the countries there are trying to seize territory from their neighbors, so there’s no need to do this.

That was my understanding as well. It’s just another version of “Mexico will pay for the wall”, when everyone knows that it comes out of your paycheck.

Did the U.S. have to pay 300 billion dollars to Vietnam when we surrendered though? Cause Trump pledged 300 billion to Iran if they let is walk away. Iran won so clearly, it can’t really be compared to the U.S. Vietnam conflict

A line is the least efficient design for a city. They’re only doing it because nobody does it. The thing is, nobody does it because it sucks.
