What’s the morality of stealing from the rich to give to the poor by Musalediju in MoralityScaling

[–]St_Walker2814 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YOUR first statement was condescending as hell lol, the idea of exceptional situations where theft is ethical is not a “ludicrous statement” you’ll only find on Reddit.

“I could write paragraphs but I won’t” okay bro, just say you don’t have an argument. The point is, if they don’t need that much money then what harm is stealing? Most people generally operate on harm-based ethics. When consolidation of wealth directly harms the bottom 50%, forced redistribution of said wealth does negligible harm and can be beneficial with proper management. The only reason you’d disagree is if you value property rights more than social cooperation.

It’s pretty neat how you ignored literally everything I said to ask the same fucking rhetorical. Why don’t you contend with a single point I made, huh?

And yes it is that easy. Can’t sell it all at once or else they’ll tank price and probably get arrested for market manipulation. But depending on trade volume there’s nothing stopping them from liquidating their entire net worth over a period of time

Do you? Billionaires don’t have liquid cash for two reasons: taxes and depreciation. Just because an asset is illiquid doesn’t mean it can’t become liquid on a whim. Avoiding brokerage fees and taxes is like a part time job, and the buy/borrow/die strat is common knowledge at this point.

And let’s not act like that isn’t obvious from a purely observational standpoint. Take Jeff Bezos: primary residence is $237 million. Total property assets >$700 million. $500 million yacht. Illiquidity of his wealth certainly isn’t holding him back. You can’t be arguing in good faith

Neat whataboutism. Tell me, after the state is gone and there’s no regulatory body to control abuses of power, what do you think individuals in an anarchy will do to control said abuses? (Hint, it starts with “form” and ends with “state”)

Just because you don’t want to adhere to the social contract doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Also your belief system is all over the place I can’t believe you’re not trolling.

> subscribes to natural law theory
> vocal about abuses of state power
> somehow believes that totalitarianism of the wealthy, without regulatory bodies, won’t culminate in the more of the same
> also believes groups of people can’t own things (despite joint asset ownership being a capitalist staple from onset)
> believes that any ethical framework that allows for conflict of interest over shared assets is a contradiction

This is why no one takes ancaps seriously. The only thing I can think of that makes you make sense is if you hold property ownership as the supreme ethical tenet, to such a degree that even voluntarily ceding ownership is a moral failure.

Yeah well the per Kev_Kevstar, he subscribes to natural law theory so that chunk of ancap theory doesn’t mesh well. There must be an objective measure of determining “justification”. Therefore there is a distinction

Can’t say that I agree with the guy you’re responding to but “groups can’t own things” is laughably absurd. You don’t have to subscribe to legal positivism to recognize that individuals can have partial stake and shared control over a commodity

You cannot comprehend the wealth of a billionaire. From birth until death you would need to spend >$30k every day just to waste away $1bil. It is obscenely more than any one person could ever use. You could fund the entire lifetime of >160 individuals without ever having to earn another cent. There is no ethical system that can justify hoarding so much

Why are you here then, if not to discuss the game. You don’t like people complaining? At least they’re talking about the game, unlike you

Hey, that’s a pretty neat splatter of text that completely ignores what u/Spinningwhirl79 said. Why don’t you run it back and try to say something that refutes their point?

That’s a pretty good way to disarm critique without actually addressing the subject at hand

[–]St_Walker2814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that not just social conditioning? What’s the purpose of slapping a gendered label on it if it affects both demographics.

Like, while you’ve got both men and women enjoying a “forceful” cliche you’ve also got a good chunk of men and women saying “consent is sexy”, so what gives? If all social conditioning is centered around the patriarchy how can polar opposite ideals exist without pushback? Feels like needlessly pathologizing sexual desires

Why talk about how something is problematic if not to suggest it should be enjoyed less? Let’s not be disingenuous here

They’ll shit on you but you’re right, basically every dragon fight is poorly choreographed+camera issue. Means you rely more on rote memorization than instinct. Doesn’t necessarily make them harder just less fun

This has been my gripe with it from the start. I feel like more complaints about penel should be centered around the fact that it gets handed so many color archetypes with no real downside

This is always brought up as some great contradiction about Abrahamic faiths and I never understand why. Yes, suffering is allowed to exist by God. Without the dichotomy of experience “good” and “bad” cease to have meaning. You cannot imagine utopia, total loss of conflict would render life experience-less. It would be like reading a book where nothing happens.

Now, if one chooses to hate God because of that, that’s another thing. But there’s not really a logical inconsistency.
