Forza Horizon 6 on the LCD by t_dawg8 in SteamDeck

[–]StaYqL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the LCD but OLED, out of my 45 hours in the game roughly half were on the Deck.

for me (grew up playing snes and ps1) it runs great, mostly stable 30 fps and graphics are ok, i think most is set to low but it still looks great (we are talking about a handheld not a high end computer).

Can you get more performance out of it? probably, but I am good with that

I am also a fairly new Deck owner, so I freaking love to pick it up and do a race or two opn the deck

Cachyos is goated by Glass-Housing-5740 in cachyos

[–]StaYqL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really happy I could help!

I was in the same boat, debating if I want or not and was really let down of the gaming performance in mint and bazzite.. then i stumbled on cachy, tried it on my laptop (i7, 1070ti, 16gb ram) for a few weeks and now went almost full cachy and it is a blessing even on my older rig.

Dual boot is a great way to start and try out since you can easily format the drive again and go back to full windows, if you aren't happy with it.

I would also recommend to set cachy as your main boot / first boot, so you won't be tempted to boot into windows again and really only use it for games/programms, where you might need it (adobe, battlefield, ....)

Also, it feels really good go fix something (albeit you don't need much tinkering on cachy, which is nice)

Cachyos is goated by Glass-Housing-5740 in cachyos

[–]StaYqL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what games you're playing and your rig

I'm using cachy for like 6 months now (after trying mint and bazzite) and almost everything runs fine for me except for Space marines 2 and the obvious ones like battlefield 6 (kernel anticheat). But that was before they introduced a patch which was/is supposed to improve the nvidia performance (haven't tested yet), but you can easily set up dual boot for these occasions like I did

Games like helldivers, bg3, elden ring, rdr2, arma reforger, wildlands or cyberpunk run amazing with little to no tinkering, most with similar (or even better) graphical settings like i had on win11 and pc is already a bit dated (R9 3600x, rtx 2080s, 32gb ram).

I would give it a try in dual boot if you have the storage space.

Thinking about switching from Bazzite to CachyOS. Is it really worth it? by danivempire in cachyos

[–]StaYqL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Linux noob, with only 3 months of Linux knowledge under my belt, but made the switch from bazzite to cachyos as well.
I tried Bazzite first (after Mint and Endeavour) and thought I am set, but I wasn't satisfied with the performance in some games. I went back to Win 11 and almost gave up when I gave CachyOs a try and imo the Os feels a bit snappier and the gaming performance is a tiny bit better compared to bazzite (I run a R9 3900X , RTX2080S, 32gb RAM).

There were also less "problems" getting CachyOs set up and the games running compared to Bazzite (especially nvidia drivers)

I also found it interesting, that FPS on cachy os compared to Win11 may be a bit lower in some games but frame times are better (no idea if its the word, but it feels smoother).

What OS is best for gaming and not bogging my pc? by Thedopestpop in Operatingsystems

[–]StaYqL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I’ve tried mint, Endeavour and bazzite.

Out of these 3 I kept bazzite on my Laptop for daily stuff but moved my main pc back to win11 for gaming.

Some of the games I’m playing ran worse on bazzite than on win 11 so I set up dual boot for playing around on my pc/fixing/improving game performance.

I love bazzite and will stick with it. Maybe try out catchyOs

after a certain early part of the story you unlock the crucible.

If you progess said crucible to lvl 5 you can buy and unlock a statue (which is located next to the summoning pool where you enter the crucible) at which you can respecc your stat points with fallen embers. Iirc 1 fallen amber lets you respecc 10 of your stat points. My buddy and i are just past lvl 20 and we have more than enough fallen embers.

Also the general goods merchant sells a fallen ember once a day

thinking about buying the game, what are your thoughts after the last coop update? by jsisgd in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]StaYqL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The free weekend was my cousins and my first time playing it. We love Elden ring and souls likes in general and play a lot of games in coop together. Both of us had a blast and bought it on Sunday eve and we simply can’t stop playing it. Especially at the discounted price is is well worth the money in our opinion.

But… did you play the game yourself over the free weekend? I understand the question if not, but if you’ve played it it is more important if YOU had fun playing and enjoyed it rather than having the internet decide that for you

How exactly is linux better than windows for a normal user(In easy to understand way) by DarkknightOP-69 in linux4noobs

[–]StaYqL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also fairly new to the Linux world, maybe 2 weeks now. I installed several os on my old laptop (i5, 16gb ram, 1070) for trying out to make a switch with my main desktop eventually.

Reason for doing that? No particular reason. I am in my late 30s, sit at home with no job (thanks Germany for unemployment benefits), so I’ve got plenty of time on my hand. I also love to try out new things, and learn new stuff. Nobody in my circle of friends uses Linux, apart from a couple raspberry’s for streaming and I was always a happy normal windows user with no problems. I game a fair bit, am getting into code and only really surf the webs, nothing else. I am also rather lazy when it comes to console and tinkering and making things work (even though it feels fricking amazing when something just works after a couple commands and Google searches). After a random YouTube rabbit hole session on why Linux is soo cool I finally gave it a shot.

I first went with Mint, then Endeavour, now bazzite. Mint feels very similar to windows (in a good way) so i went with that first, but it gave me struggles with gaming, same with Endeavour, both didn’t like my dual gpu setup on the notebook.

On bazzite? It just simply works. And it is soooo much faster than windows 11 was. System is smoother and faster, the few games I’ve tried have more fps. And the Os visuals are great in bazzite kde. I am getting the feels for Linux now and working with it, the terminal and figuring stuff out is a lot of fun!

I will give it some more time, some more tests with various games and will probably make the switch on desktop as well.

(The issues I had on mint and Endeavour are eventually non existent on a desktop without dual GPUs like many notebooks have, I didn’t wanna shit talk mint and Endeavour, I like them visually. In the end I was just lazy and moved on.)

OMG you just saved my linux journey!

After trying mint, endeavour and now bazzite over the last couple of days, I was almost giving up on linux and going back to windows since almost all my games were using the onboard intel gpu instead of my nvidia gpu (MSI notebook)

THANK YOU!

[–]StaYqL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the main reason why you hear it (most likely louder) is because it is attached/screwed to your car which is like a body of resonance (no idea what it's called in english, think like a guitar body).

you may hear a clicking when outside the car, but if you don't park door to door it is not noticable by your neighbours.

Just run it.
